Official: What are your real world MPG Numbers

I fueled up with 89 E0 from Sunoco with my last tank and got 41.5 over 413 miles! What a difference! This tank is 87 E0 and i'll see if the big difference was the ethanol content, or the slightly higher octane. So far (about 150 miles) the DIC is reading 42.3, but I know that it is slightly optimistic.

We get around 22 mpg in town. Overall lifetime average (1/3 hwy) on dash is 24. This is just easy city miles, not a hotrodder but my 52 yr old Wife.

I dont get what is going on there. I had a fill up of 92% city driving and it was an average of 34.x MPG. That being said I do drive for economy.

A lot of a/c I guess & just a normal amount of pedal, not slow/fast but apparently spirited enough to lose mpg.

A fair amount of mileage is dependent on the driver. If you pair an MPG aware driver with something like the Sonic, you're going to get good results.

My buddy drives a 2012 Mazda Speed3 and his lifetime average is roughly 25MPG's ripping through the gears when he feels like it and his wife drives a 2010 Mazda 3 2.5 and her lifetime is only 23MPG's.

I'm on the tank fill from the dealer, 374 miles, 36.1MPG, (DIC), LT 1.4T, Auto. Happy with that. Do most people see improvement after say 1000 miles?

I got 42.3MPG on a trip to Dallas last week. Car now has over 11,000 miles on it.

Break in period seems to affect mpg a fair amount.
I'm at 7000+ miles and my mpg seems to be stabalizing.
When I first got the car I was getting 36-38 mpg trying to drive for mileage
Now I can get that even with a handful of extreamly spirited drivees

Id say speed and engine rpm are the biggest mpg killers
10mph faster seems to drop my mpg by approx 8

Average 38 mpg running ethanol free 92 octane. I like to boost so I run every gear to 3-3500 rpm not drivin like a grandma either... Sporty I drive

Averaging 42.8 since I drove it off the dealership lot 2400 miles ago. I do mostly highway driving and country roads where the speed limit is 55mph. So far it has been a great car. I bought it to save money on gas, and it is definitely coming through for me.

I've been averaging about 35-36mpg. I drive mostly highway but do also sit in bumper to bumper traffic everyday after work. Only on the weekend when I do city driving it drops to about 33-34. 1.4T HB Red lights and stop signs is where is sucks. does't help I tend to have a led foot.

DIC said I averaged 35.0 mpg on the last tank of 87 octane. Real calculation is 293.2 miles vs 9.319 gallons which equals out to an actual 31.46 mpg.

The DIC is off by +3.54 mpg :blankface:

Only 918 on the odometer so maybe over some more break in miles it might actually match the DIC reading?

I'm getting right about 40 highway - 32-34 around town when driving 'conservatively' - if I use the turbo, those numbers change by about 3 MPG. I have taken pics of the dash to track how it's doing.

Hi all. New member, new Sonic as of last Fri.(6/15) 1.8, 6 speed auto sedan.

According to the DIC, 24-25 MPG driving a mix. A little disappointed, but it looks as though it's on par with many of the others posted here. Had to take it into the dealesrship today for a problem with the compass. Turns out it needs a new antenna. At any rate, service tech said mpg "should" improve after a couple thousand miles. We'll see, but I don't imagine it will be too signifigant, if any noticeable difference at all. It's the wife's new ride and she likes it, so that's all that matters, I suppose.

Reset the average economy and see what happens. Mine was taking forever to change due to what I assume was extended periods of idle time while at the dealer before i picked it up.

It should improve considerably mine is a 1.8 and I am not at 1500 miles and averaging 34mpg

I've just got my 2nd fill up, tried 93 E10? this time for a test. Average last tank of 87 oct E10, is 37.4mpg DIC. 1.4T, Auto 2LT Sedan. No highway, mostly "rural" hills, 30-55 mph. (670miles total so far)
