Someone swipped my manual out of my car when it was in for a washing at the dealer. The dealed is getting me a new one but in the meantime I am stumped.

It depends on how you drive it. I do all highway. So far by my calculation, the oil life meter is telling me I'll have around 10,000 miles on it when its ready for a oil change

My manual states that the oil change intervals are determined by the way it's driven by the "Engine Oil Life System". A 'Code 82' (change engine oil soon) will appear in the DIC (Driver Information Center).
I'm planning on changing mine when the "Remaining Oil Life" is at 25% as shown by the DIC.
The number of miles when 25% arrives will depend upon how I drive the car.

Did my first one at 2,000 miles just because im old school.Next one ill wait for the oil life to be around 20% just remember to check the level if you go over 3.000 miles do to normal oil consumtion.My dealership does the first on free and every 4th one is free after that.

I think I am still above the 50% mark on the indicator.

I have had the option of fram and wix for filters. I refuse to use a fram filter in any vehicle I own. Might price out a delco filter. Guess that means a run to the dealer soon, good thing it's two miles away.

I'll be doing my first change this weekend at 1500 miles using Mobil 1 EP. Going forward I will change it roughly once a year as I anticipate putting on 5-6 thousand miles a year.

Wix is just under $10. My car is three months old and already over 6000 miles. No once a year oil changes for me.

Totally agree. I changed mine today at 1662 miles. The oil was black. I know this is not a good indication of the oils condition but better safe than sorry as far as I'm concerned. Especially on the first change. My oil life indicator was at 84%! Now using Mobil 1 EP and I'll probably go 5 to 6k max before the next change. Maybe overkill but oil is cheap in the grand scheme of things.

I'm planning on using the GM AC/Delco filter for mine, I can get an employee discount from the dealer I work at. Is there a crush washer on the drain plug that should be changed every time?

I did not replace the washer on mine. I have several MX bikes that use crush washers on the drain plugs and I've never replaced one. Never had an issue.

Menu on left stalk until oil life shows in your DIC.

I did my oil change around 2,000 miles. There is no crush washer to change. My car didn't have the plastic under tray so it was pretty easy. Hardest part was getting the oil filter out and back in with the hoses in the way without making a mess. I used a couple plastic grocery bags and a rag belong the filter housing to catch any oil.

If you loosen the filter housing cap just enough to break the seal while the oil is draining out of the pan, the housing will drain. Give a few minutes for the excess oil to get off the filter itself. Finish loosening the cap and lift it up just enough to allow you to grab the filter. Snap the filter loose from the cap. Lift the cap out and then pull the filter out. Installation is the opposite of removal.
