It doesnt show up in there but if you ask your dealer the discount is supplier pricing which is a little below invoice.

GM does offer a College Grad discount...it is a formula, just like their supplier pricing. Go to gmcollegediscount.com for details.
Well interesting news. I got a dealer to accept an offer of 17 for an auto sonic hatch lt with connectivity. I asked for the college discount after getting that price. She said she would have to look it up and get back to me. A few hours later she claimed that discount was included in the 17 price. Problem is I offered that price, not them, and factory rebates are supposed to be on top of negotiated price .. right?

Yeah they are because gm pays the dealer for the discount. They are just trying to make more money off you
You should always ask for their best price and ask to see the pricing sheet and look at all the discounts that have been applied. THEN you make your offer. You kind of went about it a little wrong. But it's ok, just ask to see the sheet now and change your offer as you think you need to.

I didn't have to do any of this because my bank has a car buying service that gives a price typically below invoice so my only choice that I had to make was which dealer felt like they wanted and actually deserved my business

The 2012 Sonic does allow a DISCOUNT ( the dealership is only refunded rebates, not discounts) of $1200 off of the Sticker price for college students. The Chevrolet Sonic was formerly named the Chevrolet Aveo, the 2011 Aveo does offer a $1500 factory rebate. This may be where some of the confusion has come from."

The Dealership you are working with is correct in the fact that their is no Rebate on the Sonic. GM's college discount is the supplier price listed on the invoice. Its a set number to each car not a set dollar amount like a rebate. Some dealers may give you a better deal then the supplier price but its pretty rare with out some other form of discount.
