RS mileage

My automatic RS reflects the same mileage on the window sticker (28-33)

So far with about 700 miles...mixed driving and in some snow...I'm at about 27mpg average. However at 70-74mph....the instant fuel reading shows 30mpg....I'm really anxious to see if the first oil change will impact economy positively.

you need to slow down if you want EPA numbers. try 65, or even better, 60.

I get about 30 around town with mine, if im cruising a steady 45 on some 2 lanes ive broke 40 until i hit a mountian. Ill say 33 for my interstate mileage, right at 70. Cruising 60-65 ill break 35 until i hit a hill

Interesting that the figures on the window sticker have changed for the RS with a manual trans. I bought mine on 2-28-13, and it read 27 City/34 Highway/30 Combined. I was hoping it'd say 29/40, but it didn't. And upon further inspection, the window sticker says "reissue" on it. Which makes sense as to why mine says 27/34/30.

But I don't CARE! I love my new ride!

Best I have hit was 39.9 MGP on freeway over a 72 mile trip drafting a semi for 22 miles. I was not using an ultra gauage. But I was traveling at 58 MPH

Just drove my RS MT cross-country and the MPG gauge has topped out at 30.8
When driving over 75mph the MPG slowly dropped to about 29.8

Car was loaded with luggage and 2 passengers, which I'm sure didn't help.

I didn't mean you, lol. I meant his response to yours. And I'm not calling anyone out. Just making an observation that almost everywhere I go today folks are a little on edge. Wonder why.

I've had my RS (6MT) for about about 5 weeks and 3600 miles, and I'm averaging about 32 mpg. I'd say my driving is about 2/3 highway, and I cruise at 65 mph on the freeway. I rarely drive in stop and go city traffic. In my last car (Mazda3 SkyActiv automatic), I was averaging 36 mpg and the car was well broken in.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the mileage, but 6th gear could be taller (and so could 1st for that matter). However it's nice to have torque at hand for passing in 6th gear. 65 mph is about 2750 rpm in 6th. Once the car is broken in, I'm going to experiment with 93 octane.

Looking forward to it, but I think I'll wait until we are off winter blend 87 to see if that brings any improvement. Then I'll see about 93 :thumbup:

I run it all the time. Winterblends SUCK for fuel mileage period. I am pretty sure after mid April Summer blend will help all of us.
