The 1.6T would be fantastic. I actually think they should throw one of the new GM tune kits onto the RS out of the gate.
Trifectaaaaaaa

Not offensive at all. I like the RS package alot but have been open about the fact that I think it's overpriced. I would have loved to see more of an SS spec with more power for that price. I don't mean to come across as harsh on the package itself.
laborsmith said somewhere in the RS subforum that Chevy may be releasing stage performance kits for the Sonic.
Yep. That is exactly what I was talking about earlier. It would have been cool if they did this to the RS stock. Other tunes are out there but it would be cool to have it done already and come with a warranty.
Regardless the kits will be cool if not "too" expensive.

I'm really eager to hear back from my contact at Chevy if they're giving me a good deal on the RS!
I said FIESTA ST you turkeys. It was just announced for the US market and will be direct competition for the Sonic RS.
The certainty of the Fiesta ST coming to the US (looks like for the 2014 model year) answers why the Sonic will get the 1.6T. Also makes a mid-year (Spring 2014) intro seem more likely. Now the question is will Chevy go ahead and call it SS?

Pro Tip: When you are enthusiastic about the factory performance of a sub 2 liter econocar, you sound like a noob. Go drive a car with a power to weight ratio under 8:1 for some perspective.
A stock intercooled Grand National made 235hp. You need to make 435hp before the power to weight gets down to 8:1.
Does the number "5857" mean anything to you?
