Yes, feel your pain on losing the hair war. Age 29 my hair was middle of my back, looked in the mirror at the back of my head seen small balding spot and said to myself...I will not be that guy lol.
Beard changes from summer short to winter long, just trimmed to summer. Like CheapFuneral, I use #3 Or #4 to maintain summer.

I started at an 8 and moved backward. I would have gone with four but my set goes 8-7-6-5-3-1 because I'd lose my head if it weren't glued to my neck.

I know that issue. The reason why I went with 7 for mine is because I couldn't find 8.
