Forgive me for asking, but what's the eta for the next update? As I'm sure you well know, this is one of the most anticipated threads in all of SOF.
Yeah, it kind of kills me that I got everyone excited and it's taking so long. I usually get things done when I say I'm gonna get them done.
Initially I had planned to make this happen by October '13. Since then DDMW has hit some internal manpower issues and had his handful just filling orders for a while with no time to spare for R&D.
He's back on track with help. And last update was about testing intercoolers. The manifold is figured out. The oil/water lines are figured out. The DP is pre-fabbed.
Also Dave was excited about some new gigantic highly accurate bench tester for testing pre/post IC air temps, pressure drop, efficiency etc. that he purchased.
So as it stands, once he is convinced (I'm guessing 1-2weeks) that his custom intercooler is up to the job, all that's left is the final charge tube, BOV and some test&tune.
Work has been consuming me with the new foreman position so I don't mind the wait, but as pointed out, this has become the "people's turbo" and I'm sorry to keep everyone in such suspense. I'll call Dave this week and try to hammer down some concrete deadlines.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone with their own resources beats me to the first turbo swap, and as hard as that is for me to swallow. There is not much I can do about it.
I DO however have a pretty big head start on the first
built 1.4. Ive got the pistons and rods. Just working on springs and fasteners, and time-off from work to put her together.
