Yeah, it kind of kills me that I got everyone excited and it's taking so long. I usually get things done when I say I'm gonna get them done.
Initially I had planned to make this happen by October '13. Since then DDMW has hit some internal manpower issues and had his handful just filling orders for a while with no time to spare for R&D.
He's back on track with help. And last update was about testing intercoolers. The manifold is figured out. The oil/water lines are figured out. The DP is pre-fabbed.
Also Dave was excited about some new gigantic highly accurate bench tester for testing pre/post IC air temps, pressure drop, efficiency etc. that he purchased.
So as it stands, once he is convinced (I'm guessing 1-2weeks) that his custom intercooler is up to the job, all that's left is the final charge tube, BOV and some test&tune.
Work has been consuming me with the new foreman position so I don't mind the wait, but as pointed out, this has become the "people's turbo" and I'm sorry to keep everyone in such suspense. I'll call Dave this week and try to hammer down some concrete deadlines.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone with their own resources beats me to the first turbo swap, and as hard as that is for me to swallow. There is not much I can do about it.
I DO however have a pretty big head start on the first built 1.4. Ive got the pistons and rods. Just working on springs and fasteners, and time-off from work to put her together.

CV joints can fail, without it being a result of too much power. Others have had failures, but it doesn't seem to be a common problem.
Unless I actually break one, I won't hesitate to just replace a damaged one with a new stock replacement.

Also look into Raxles if you start busting axles.

I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of the driveshaft shop but they as well do custom shafts if need be. Great reliable shop and I've been using their shafts on my other cars about 10 years so they have been around.

Something to keep in mind with DSS axles is what do you want to be the weakest link in the driveline? On the Cavalier forums it was determined that the DSS axles were much stronger than stock, but the weak link became the gears inside the diff. I would rather replace a $150 axle than a $1000 transmission.

DDMW. The pistons are done and at his shop. The rods are being made. He wants to have the set in his possession, and photo'd so he can put it up on his site. Then he'll ship them to me.
He wants to avoid mass volumes of ppl calling, asking for a price and/or to order them before the first set is completed. I don't even know the price myself.
But I will try to get an answer on this..... the eta of the turbo stuff..... and the eta of the other two things that a lot off us have been anticipating for a long time. I will call him in the next couple days.
