I suppose, but you would think if they truly loved you they would rather have you sometimes even if almost never rather than not at all.
It's a lot more than a "you would think" situation. Anybody not having experienced the 'deployment' situation will be clueless. But it is our honor to serve (or have served) this great country giving the right to suppose all you want

I agree with this. If you've never been in a long distance relationship or anything like that, it's hard to judge it.
I haven't been with someone who was deployed but I've been in relationships that started local and then ended up becoming long distance and they sucked.
I didn't realize how much commitment and sacrifice was involved. "Loving" someone isn't enough. It takes a lot to be willing to invest in that type of relationship cuz majority of the time you're alone.

I've had a few long distance relationships and am married to a girl I met on irc back in 1997. I feel I have plenty of experience with this however that doesn't mean my situation was the same as everyone's. IMO when you get married it SHOULD be permanent and viewed as such when making such a commitment. Its not like a car that you can just trade in if you're not happy with it. People change, situations change, I get that and its all good. I also get that people make mistakes, I have experience in this as well including big ones.
I think we are WAY off topic at this point though and need to get back onto topic or start a new thread for this in the off topic section.

The point was probably to say "ha ha I'm better than you people, the Sonic sucks and I dumped it for what I think is a far better car".

I could have afforded a "better" car, but this was the car I wanted, and I've been very happy with that purchase... and dumped lots of extra cash into it for no good reason. My Sonic -is- my midlife crisis car, I didn't need it, I just wanted it, and now I drive it everywhere and get a bigass smile on my face every time I do.
I think the reasons for the OP not liking his Sonic anymore are fairly lame ones, but I have to say, if his Genesis gives him anywhere near the amount of joy my little Sonic gives me, it's worth whatever he's had to pay for the move.
I personally have a hard time believing that will be true... but tastes vary.

Let's see, I got my first brand new car last year at age 55-our nifty red Sonic. Are there things I don't like about it? Yes, but they are so minor that I would not trade it in for those reasons. Are there things I wish it had? Yes, I'd have loved the 1.8 as a turbo instead, but you can't it that way. The slush box has been fun now that I've figured out how to best use it.
My biggest complaint is that it's her car and I don't get to drive it enough!

I MIGHT trade mine.. for a turbo.. but idk.. I keep thinking its one of those grass is always greener.. cuz those concepts looked nice.. and theres always gonne be another one.. plus I have a feeling in the near future turbo setups will be available for the 1.8... I just don't know.. lol plus mine is almost paid off.. which would be real smexy to have a paid off car extra 300 a month

genesis and sonic are way 2 different cars, all the sonic needs is a bigger turbo motor.
im seeing the trend of small hatches and sport compacts are more about handling now and less straight line performance. if you want fast buy a v8.
hell the fiesta st has beaten the focus st and frs/brz around the track. who would of thought the little fiesta would of been a track monster.

Wildly jealous of all of you who were able to pay off your car, or can even buy one outright. Maybe someday I'll be as fancy as all of you.. IMO a man with a modest car that's paid off is way more impressive and attractive than one with an expensive car and a ridiculous car note to go with it.
