Wet passenger floor after rain?

I TOO am having the same issue with my 2013 Sonic (no sunroof).
I created a thread (http://www.sonicownersforum.com/forum/general-discussion/8013-2013-sonic-wet-floor-issue.html) today about it and thanks to member 'rdss' he gave me a link to this thread.

Hey guys, Thank you all so much for the info' related to this PROBLEM.
Especially for sharing the documented "BULLETIN #PI0826" !!!!
We are taking the car in very soon WITH that information in hand!
This was the best thing that I could have done to address this Sonic issue. Joining this site with you all!

Im here to update,
I picked up my 2013 Sonic yesterday from the dealership's service station.
The problem was exactly what was discussed here- 'BULLETIN #PI0826'

On Monday, 6/17/2013, I had brought with me, all the information I had learned from all of you members (thank you) including the 'Bulletin PI0826' reference. Saturday morning,6/15, after going through the threads here associated to my cars problem, I had also examined my Sonic's glove box 'undercarriage' and ,yes, it was wet. Saturday had been a a rainy day as well.
I was given a loaner car at no cost when i had brought the car in for servicing.
The manager had confirmed it to be associated to the 'Bulletin PI0826' when he called me later that day.
..I picked up my Sonic at 6pm CST yesterday.
The manager was very gracious and explained again that the problem was verified to be what we thought.
The manager had thanked me for bringing in all of the printout information that I collected from HERE. Especially because of the 'BULLETIN #PI0826' information . He said that It made the mechanics workday a lot easier and and quicker to diagnose too.
They sealed up what needed to be sealed and replaced the padding underneath the passenger carpeting. Mold would have started to form underneath if not taken care of properly! Great guys at a great Chevy dealership/service station.

Ive got some 'bad' news now to report.
My wife drives the Sonic to work and back..I drive our PT Cruiser(also bought at Sunrise Chevy)
On Thursday evening she told me that the Sonic ONCE AGAIN has had much water entering the front passenger side!
This is a real surprise to us. Especially since she did not go thru a car wash and there was no rain that day!!!
We called the same service station manager Erik and he was apologetic offering that we bring it back so they can see what is going on.
He will once again provide us with a loaner at no cost to us. I have no problem with that of course..yes this does take up our time but what can we do?
It has to be corrected. Ill let you all know what happens next..unfortunately the mechanic that worked on my car is off this weekend so Ill be bringing it in on Monday morning. (im off that day so it is no problem) :sadbanana:

Was the A/C (or defrost for that matter) used that day? If so, they probably should check to make sure your A/C drain is not blocked or otherwise disconnected. That could certainly get you a floorboard full of water, I've seen it on other cars.

Hello again, Thank you Erica Tiffany for the offer and thank you ColonelPanic for your suggestion , here is the update...

Service station Manager Eric called me yesterday a few hours after I had dropped off the Sonic. He update me on what they found the water problem to actually be.
As you had suggested ColonelPanic, It had to do with the A/C drainage.
Eric told me that during their re-inspection they had noticed an unused hole in that particular area section.
It turns out that that hole is created for the A/C drainage tubing. They state that that tube seems not to have ever been installed at the factory.
By the way, when i dropped off the car yesterday morning , we had all checked the floor on the passenger side and yes it was very wet..but not the back passenger flooring.
The manager is very confident that this WAS the problem all along.
Ill be picking our Sonic up sometime this early morning ,,got to take my shower now!! lol
..Ill add more once I get back home

Thanks for posting all the detail. It's good to know other possible causes for issues. It's good you also had BULLETIN #PI0826 taken care of as well. I bet your car stays dry now!

Yet again..

Back in June I posted here about the issue with my car leaking, I then took it in and had it fixed (well I thought it was) This afternoon I went out to my car to head to work and when I opened the car door the smell of mold hit me like a ton of bricks.. so I knew immediately the floor was once again wet - after feeling it, my suspicions were correct.

I'm going to be printing out things from here and again bringing in the bulletin number.


I will update on the outcome.

I was going out to lunch and my friend noticed my floor had some water on the floor mat. I thought maybe it was that bulletin posted eariler about the fresh-air inlet (no sunroof).

Took the Sonic into dealer today, they said the cabin air-filter was completely dry and there is no sign of water. I know it only happened once, and it was very little water (picture maybe a spilled half cup of water on your rubber floor mat). It was down pouring all day today, they tried to park the car at different angles and inclines to duplicate the leak but it's showing no signs of leaking what so ever. My floor is also completely dry.

So until I ever see it happen again it looks like it's a mystery.

Checked the cabin air filter and entire area under/behind glovebox, all dry as a bone - odd how my floor got wet, had to be my friends feet.

well you all made me nervous so I went out and checked my 2013 sonic RS... no leaks that I can find but then it does sleep in a garage at night. I will keep an eye on it though. thanks for all the info on here.

This definitely is strange! Well hopefully this was just some sort of mix-up and your Sonic doesn't have any leaking issues. If this happens again definitely take some photos and reach back out to us. If there's anything we can help with let us know.

so you all got me to keepin an eye on things, floor feels kinda damp on the passenger side but I cant say wet. it would be very very minor in being damp BUT I do have the windows fogging up every morning and sometimes when I drive it during the day. goes away quickly with defrost on.. wonder if I have a minor leak issue. sometimes its not even damp or raining outside. no antifreeze smells and it does not come from the defrost vents on the windshield.. just an all over hazing in the car.. no puddling of water. car is kept in garage so its not outside all night in the rain. Guess I will keep an eye on this post and my car. I wonder if it was a certain series of cars that went thru and can be tracked by vin and production dates... maybe a new employee did not know to perform a job on the car..

I brought my car to my dealer in June to have this issue fixed. We do not get enough strong rain here in UT lately until today. My one year warranty will expire next month. If this continues happening, will Chevy or my dealer fix this at no extra cost since I brought it in previously for the same issue. I am just getting sick of having to bring it in for similar issue in a span of a year (brought the car for a different issue multiple times too).

My car also leaks there too, the filter is wet everytime it rains. And also when i turn the air on it reaks of wet moldy air.
