How about a 2l turbo awd with a 7 sp auto coupe.
I'd like to see a 2 door as well...but in HB form like the golf.

I'd like;
3. The front passenger seat fold all the way forward. That way, I could put longer things in my hatch easier.
7. Fix windshield glare. <-OH God this!
Since the Trax will have fold down front passenger seating, I wonder if this could be an interior swap option?

Hmm. I kind of forgot about the Trax, but I'd want all that I mentioned in that along with the 4WD.
My Plans were to possibly trade up to a TRAX in a year or two, but with the issue's I've been dealing with over the past 5 months, It less likely Now.
If things finally get resolved and I see the stability I expected in my Sonic, I may hold on to it and still might do a TRAX. Or might go back to a Jeep.
Still would love all those options though....
7 speed auto?
Why not just do a CVT at that point.
I think I misunderstood the question, it isn't "what Sonic tweaks do you want" but rather "what other types of vehicle could be sitting on the Sonic frame?"
We have a sub-compact Sedan and Hatchback (both actual Sonic), a Compact Sedan (Cruze), a compact SUV (Trax) and a second compact SUV (Encore)
OK how about a small pickup, ala the old Ranger? Or maybe the Brat?
How about a Coupe, and a Convertible Coupe?
A Wagon (simply use the Sonic Sedan length but the Hatchback shape, as suggested above)
A sleek, low to the ground sportscar?
How about a light Van, similar to the Transit?
A Dune Buggy?
Or how about you do all of the above, by stealing the idea of the VW Thing; removable panel construction... only do it one better and let them be configurable in a variety of ways?!

I'd love to be able to buy something like the frame and drive train and then be able to buy the parts to make it look like my old 67 Firebird Convertible on the outside, but with all the safety, comfort and features of a 2015 car on the inside. THAT would be my dream car.
Would it be so hard for GM to come out with a 2 seater that's RWD, V8, cloth interior, and under $30k? Sort of like a Miata, but a V8. Doesn't have to have power windows or locks. I'd be fine without traction control or ABS.

The problem with this would be making sure it meets safty standards, and that means that ABS and other nanny controls are a must unfortunantly. I wouldn't mind seeing the code 130 or 140s (whatever the small RWD coupe concept from a while back was...
Yeah, that and you'd sell like 5 of them.
GM's sports car is the vette, it has been for over 50 years and that's not going to change. When Buick made a car that beat the vette only in a straight line GM put a stop to it.
The Sonic is a tiny economical car, not a performance sports car and it never will be.
Years ago I could see that, but with the CTS-V, Z/28, and even the ATS-V, the Vette doesn't quite hold the Monster performance throne that it used to in the GM portfolio. There could still be plenty of room for a small (and only small), cheaper, more economical 2 seater (a la the MX-5) that wouldn't eat into the vette's market. If anything, it could help massage the current car buyer into looking at the Vette as an upgrade when they get a bit more financially secure. It's similar to what Merc and BMW do. Start someone in a lower priced car, and as they grow economically you can move them up your line. Corvettes are far from the only 2 passenger RWD coupes on the market, but they are one of the best. That's undisputed, especially the current generation, but creating a small coupe with BRZ levels of handling and MX-5 levels of power would be a great option. Heck they already have a concept for just that in the 130R, and with Alpha/Fiat-Abarth already expected to have at least one competitor in this market, they could get ahead of the curve if they would just look forward. Not all enthusiasts want huge snorting V8's (not that I don't love huge snorting V8's mind you). Some of us would like an economical snorting 1.6T pushing power to the rear wheels if it would mean a price tag under $30K and great handling potential. It can be done, but perhaps only if GM were to adopt something along the lines of VW's MDQ technology.
Your right and wrong the vette is still the flag ship. The ctsv is down tuned to be slower then the vette. Always has been.
However I'd agree there is a market for a 4cylinder turbo rwd car but it's already been determined the market is small and there are already a few cars there. Also the new camaro for 2016 is going to be built on the ats platform so look for a 2.0t under $30 is say and maybe even the atsv v6tt as the middle engine.
**** you auto correct!
