What's this for on the passenger side in my sedan's trunk?




And what's this latch for?

My hatch has a hump there too. I don't think it has a set purpose, just allows you to squeeze in something slightly wider

I was referring to the two slots cut into the hump.

I suspect that certain European countries require cars to come with a small first aid kit which would be fitted into that spot, but the same interior panel is used in all countries.
The latch is probably just to secure a child's car-seat or a tie-down latch for cargo.

The passenger side recess appears to be for a first aid kit for Euro Spec Sonics. There are photos that I've observed, somewhere in this Forum that show this.

Can confirm, will take a snap when I get back to my car. It's for an elastic strap to hold whatever you want.

You could always add a roadside emergency kit with a reflective triangle and jumper cables to your "boring commuter build". Seems like the jumper cables in particular would be quite valuable for long distance commuting.

The latch is for a cargo net I believe..

in my owners manual it says that that is the spot for the road side tire inflation repair kit thingy . and the latches are just tie down points for like a ratchet strap or bungey cords
