Yet another sticky shifter button thread ?

Disclaimer -- What works for my hampster -- might not work for yours ?

After looking at a few youtube vids -- spraying oodles of silicone worked

Consider a pure silicone spray vs a penetrating spray. Sold on same shelf at hardware or auto parts store. It may be safer for most plastics, and we have lots of plastic in cars nowadays. Glad it worked out.

Be careful of mice with knives, they are not all well behaved.

My button wasn't just "sticky" - it was broken at the base. That caused it to sort of stick unless you physically pushed it back out after changing gears. I had gotten used to it, but I got one of those $15 kits off ebay though and it's as good as new.

I really do need to try some spray on my trunk latch though - that thing truly does stick.

Well being the moron that I am ----- the sleeve wasn't binding ------ the pivot point under the chrome-ish button broke --- "DUH" --

Gots me a shifter rebuild kit from Amazon --

Ande the wire spring had snapped --

A bit of a fiddle to get the parts lined up --

This helped a bit --

Now it just needs a dab of Lithium grease ---
