i kinda want my car to be loud but i dont have money for a exhaust system, could i just run open down pipe with out a tune/ no issues? (2012 sonic hatch, 1.4t with 550 miles)

If you're talking about straight open down pipe it's going to be extremely loud and obnoxious and the drone is gonna drive you nuts. Trust me I know from experience lol. Mine backfired a lot and didn't run too good, the o2 sensor was probably too close to where it dumped. If you want to go cheap throw in a manual exhaust cut out for about $30 that way you can quiet it when needed.

I would say just wait and save up. The level of loudness that would have is almost unbearable for a daily driver. Ever watched a rally race? Those cars mostly run open exhaust and the result is deafening to the viewers. All good things come with time and patience young padawan.
If you really want that kind of exhaust note but still be able to tolerate daily transportation, I recommend some oval pipe work with a glass pack. Gives the I4T a good bark and is still bearable to drive for long periods of time. Not to mention your friendly local Po-Po may be more willing to let you get by with tthat set up over straight piping.

You could and you will get more turbo and exhaust sound but you could also start to see issues with boost creep. I don't know if its the case on this car....happened on my GST Spyder with a Big T28 upgrade and running an open straight pipe. If you tune your car....make sure the tuner is aware of it and tune accordingly. It will be loud as hell too...to the point of annoying. But everyone has a different opinion to what annoying is.

Cut off the muffler, and that should do it. Maybe tack on a pipe and tip if uncomfortable having the exhaust blasting the fuel tank.

My dad has a Cummins Dodge and that thing sounds like a monster. And not a monster truck. I mean a big ass road beast that chews up Mazda's and spits them out.

yeah my gf's dad has 2 of them a 98 and a 06 they are 4" straight pipe i love them and one of by good friends has a 10 wrx invidia N1 race stage 3. love those

I agree with Laborsmith, your idea of cutting some pipe away is a good one, but cutting the whole thing off is almost certainly going too far. Chopping just the muffler will probably do what you want, and later you can very easily and relatively cheaply add a straight pipe that won't quiet you down but will look better and make you a little safer in terms of not dumping carbon monoxide under your car.

The freightliner with the bull dog will spin the tires with the 43 foot loaded trailer on it. But if you keep you foot out you Dont even feel it back there
My Cummins (the silver truck) back when it was 600hp could pull the trailer like a toy. Currently running 41 lb of boost.
Now its back on stock tune and other parts ( long story) it still pulls great and gets 24 mpg vs the 19 it was

My father in law had a 03 same truck buy a 6 speed manual. Mines a 05 automatic. And stock to stock mine would out run his pulling the same load
