Gauge Pod Ideas?

I'd love to see GM Performance or Autometer come out with a top dash-tray replacement gauge mount pod. When I looked into buying the WRX a couple years ago, they offered a three instrument pod that was a factory clock replacement in the center of the dashboard. On the top of the Sonic dashboard there is a similar, removable piece that could EASILY... perhaps, be replaced with a gauge mount of this type. Maybe even carbon fiber... I'd settle for matte black plastic.

The minute, nay, second someone comes out with a 3 - 52mm gauge pod similar to this for the top of our Sonic's dash I am getting one. For sure one gauge will be boost, for sure one will be coolant temp, the third I can't decide. Volt? Oil pressure? Other?

I'm up for center mount. That indentation in the top of the dash really is made for a gauge pod.

I would sure hope that the gen II Sonic has a temp and boost gauge. Chevy did great on the Gen 1, but I think they underestimated the tech saviness of the people buying them.

Also, the mylink is a whole resource that could be used, instead of gauge, why not a graphical representation of those guages,

As soon as someone finds a way to install a new OS into the mylink I'm sure this would be a viable option. The embedded windows CE is a pain to work with IMHO.

Center mount FTW. I'd go for real gauges over showing 'gauges' on the MyLink, plus not everyone has the MyLink.

Because it's an important tool that can aid in tuning your vehicle.

Yeah if you're actively tuning it. Otherwise it's just blinking lights. Most people on here are having Trifecta do their tuning for them. I don't know of anyone using hptuners or stand alone yet.

It's more than just "blinking lights". It provides vital information that can intern help you save your engine if something isn't working correctly causing an extreme lean condition or too much fueling.

A wideband AFR gauge can only help in the tuning process. You don't have to be necessarily doing the calibrations yourself to take advantage of its purpose. Sending logs of the AFRs can assist in getting your vehicle dialed in just right.

I would do Boost/Vacuum, Oil Pressure, Water temp.

Vacuum is not a good indicator on a Vehicle with variable valve timing.

Boost/vacuum is a single gauge... When you don't produce boost you produce vacuum also known as in/hg
