Contacted my dealer for the update last week and got an appointment for yesterday evening. After an hour and a half in the waiting room, the service rep came in and asked me how I had heard about the update ... she said that the technician was asking, because it was "only made availabe about a week ago and shouldn't have been public, yet." I told her about the post on the Chevy website and she returned to the service area. About 10 minutes later, she came back and told me that they wouldn't be able to do the update - that the technician had spent all this time researching it and, after he had downloaded it, thought it seemed "fishy" (probably because of the extensive instruction list). So he asked the service manager what he should do and the service mangager told him not to install it, because it was not a mandatory update ... and to tell me that an official update would not be available until the fall.
The service rep apologized that I had waited so long for nothing and said she would have the car washed and bring it around soon. 25 minutes later, she came back, saying the car was ready for me. She apologized again and then instructed me not to bring it back in for a MyLink update until I had received an official recall/update notice (which she again said wouldn't be available until fall). :sadbanana:
Not a happy Monday evening for this Sonic RS owner ...
