Didn't you read the box? HMMMMmmmm?????
I did!
I insulated it well with blankets underneath and drove easy. Didn't really have another option.

Don't want that responsibility on a 2 hour trip. I had good luck last time I hauled one.
Two hours to pick up a new water heater? Good lord you must live in the boonies.
What is that? The tank we are replacing is oooold. Last tank I hauled is still working 6 years later.
Truth.
Walmart is 45 minutes away.
Metards is 2 hours but worth it to save $200.
The anode rod is a rod which is installed inside the tank. Most people don't even know they exist, but they protect the tank. Once the rod is gone, the tank starts rusting\rotting\corroding and its only a matter of time. Most likely the manual that came with the water heater mentions it but no one knows about it and I guess ignores it. I recommended this not because of how you moved the tank, just because its a good idea in general.
Another tip, is to run your hot water around 140F. Many don't like this as they think its too hot and prefer 120F. The problem is they are finding 120F allows Legionellosis (legionnaires disease) to grow in the pipes. 140F kills the bacteria and poses no risk, so many people are raising their water heater temperatures these days.
Sorry, I'm just full of information like this.
