LED turn signal bulb

Okay so i have a question
I know our turn signal bulbs are 7444 bulbs
I wanted to swap them with some LED Switchback bulbs (white while running, amber when flashing)
like these -

so the question is do i need the resistors?
and if I install without resistors will it just simply Hyperblink?
I kinda like hyper blinking so i wouldn't mind.

without a resistor you will get a bulb out warning.

led's are 'on' or 'off', also 'there' or 'not there' when looking at them from a electric perspective...meaning that a natural bulb will show resistance when hot, and sho no resistance when off (or very low res...), and a led is open when off, and resistance when on...so with it being open when off, you will get a warning showing a bulb out.

I really like the looks of those with the switchback! I think you should be the first on these and let us know how it goes. I think these would look great in my blacked out projector retrofit, like icing on the cake.

Yes you will need a resistor. Otherwise you will get the warning as stated and the blinker will flash very quickly.

I didn't get any warning when I had LED blinkers but they flashes really fast.

on the internet i found that some cars you could switch some sort of fuse instead of adding resistors. some say the resistors get extremely hot.
can i change a fuse instead? if so would i need a higher wattage, voltage?
hows that work?

Switching fuses will not help. They only determine the maximum amperage a circuit can draw. They self-destruct when it does to protect everything else.

A resistor is needed in parallel to the LED bulb to increase the amperage pulled by the turn-signal circuit. This tricks the BCM into thinking an incandescent bulb is there. It will need to be a high wattage design with built-in heatsink to dissipate the wasted heat. The little ones you see in electronics are just 1/4 or 1/2 watt.

I've also seen people wire in a bulb socket that's out of sight to do the same thing.

where do you put the load resistor at when it's parallel. i heard your supposed to put it further away from the led bulb and there is a yellow and black wire coming from the socket so i would say that the resistor would go parallel to the yellow wire for both sides. if i'm wrong let me know.

What I heard recently on Motorweek was that the resistor needs to be installed on the grounded side of the bulb socket; one terminal to the bulb ground, the other to chassis ground. They also told of two types of resistors; a ceramic for old vehicles, and a metal housed type for later models.

The resistor should be wired in-between the two wires for that bulb. Theoretically you could just tap into the yellow wire and then wire the other end to the chassis, but this could interfere with how it checks for dead bulbs and end up with a code again anyway.

Where you place it on those wires shouldn't matter. Just keep in mind that they might get hot.

i know this doesn't fall under this thread but i just installed led brake light bulbs in and now i'm getting a weird buzzing noise when the brake peddle is pressed and when the car is locked there is a little bit of illumination from the led bulbs. is this normal. PM me on any suggestions or comments.

None of this happens to me with my LED tail lamp bulbs. Where did you purchase through?

I don't know anything about the reputation of that site or the quality of their products, but I can tell you after buying about a dozen LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com I never had any problems. There are other LED sites but that's the one I went through. It might be a pain but it might also be worth returning those and purchasing somewhere else.

It amazes me what people will attempt to install to an electrical system not understanding basic electrical at least.

This usually leads into Customer paying for repairs due to there stupidity.

You might want to pay a professional or find someone that understands the vehicles eletrical system before you burn something up.

It is helpful. It will save you money in the long run if its done correctly to begin with.

When someone wants to change fuse sizes not understanding the ciruits load or wire size rating can become an expensive lesson for some.
