Official: Ordered Chevy Sonic Crew

Not an area I have paid attention to, but your car will be traveling by train, I believe the autocar carrier will be switched to a railway that serves your area, possibly union-pacific (I believe they go to Albuquerque). It takes several days to get there, then once unloadrf at least two days for the dispatcher to arrange for a truck to take it to the dealer, then after those two or more days however many hours or days to actually get to the dealer.

The dealer can get the rail autocar number and track the progress of the autocar which has your car.

There is more detailed info, and I posted it somewhere on this site, but I can not off hand remember where. If I figure it out I will post the link in a new reply.

Updated this morning! At what point and where does the VIN show up???

01/27/2012 (3400) Order Broadcast (internal plant paperwork order produced). Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together.

Double click either one to get to the Window Sticker page. When the Window Sticker appears, your car is on its way. It will only appear for two or three days so if you want to save it, print it out.

It was on the Chevy web site but not the GMConnects site and the window sticker was there! So my car is on its way?

It is very likely your car is on the way, DVN. 95% certainty, if a last second QC does not happen. But that is not likely, so I would say you are good!

I have not said it, but I believe I enjoy this ride with you and others whose questions I have tried to answer almost as much as if I was the consumer.

And yes, when YOUR ordered car is parked in your driveway, it is worth all the ups and down you went through while waiting for the journey to run its course.

Quality Control Hold is a strange beast. There is no one status level that signifies it. Some dealers have been able to confirm one but that may have more to do with their district manager than anything else.

The positive side effect is while in QC people who know their business will be going over the car whether the reason for the hold pertains to their area of expertise or not, and the result is I have never heard of a QC Hold car experiencing a quality problem. And cars are randomly flagged for a QC.

This does not mean you are in a QC Hold, only that the first indication of such is more than one 4B00. Only time will tell. But at least it is finished and only awaiting to be released to make its way to your driveway.

Target Production Week, is indeed set to this week (today is the date listed in TPW).

Maybe ours will be produced side by side? We will have to compare VIN numbers when we get them!!!

Don't forget Chevy updates their server overnight, so GMConnects picks up changes beginning the next morning. So a car built today will show up as assembled (3800) tomorrow.

By the way, Orion works two shifts 10 hours each four days a week. Work on Friday is overtime, and I have not heard they are working Fridays lately.

Just a guess here: either out to an outside vendor for stripes (does not apply to the Sonic, at least for now) or vehicle's rail autocar has moved from one rail yard to another and will be hooked up to a different locomotive/rail company to go to a third rail yard.

I consider 4300 to be a good sign.

Just a guess. There is only one immutable law when ordering a new Chevy: you, no matter who you are, can not take delivery at the factory. If you have achieved a particular place in society (say you are the president of GM) you may be able to drive your newly built car off the assembly line but you will not be able to take delivery there.

Everything else is a guess.
