Thanks , Eric. I am much more sympathetic with the dealer's IT person since I started answering questions in this thread. Following cars from order being entered to delivery is more fluid than I realized. But I now know you can get an order number whether the dealer will ever get an allocation or not and other than that it is all hopefully informed guess work.

There is a chance that the server both GMConnects and the Chevy dealers use to get status update is down until 2/21/2012 per what I have gleaned, so progress updates may not be available until early next week.

Got my order code yesterday. Order placed on 2/10th and I'm at 3000 right now. Hoping to take delivery by the end of March.

Shapoopy, I do not recall seeing your Target Production Week, which comes with status 3400. It should have been either 2/13 or 2/20.

Generally you need to get the TPW from your dealer. Your salesperson can look it up quite easily and tell you what it is. And since thy can look it up in real time, if it is built (3800) they can tell you the day before GMConnects can.

Target Production Week is the week a vehicle is scheduled to be built. Once you get a TPW is is almost certain your car will be built that week.

Click on your VIN to go to the Window Sticker page. One sign that your cart is loaded and on its way is the appearance of your window sticker. It is not a perfect predictor but as close as we have.

I'm not sure if this is the initial shipment or the actual local railyard to dealer transfer.

02/15/2012 (4300) Interm transfer. Processing transfer to QC or vendor.
02/16/2012 (4B00) Your car is bayed and is waiting for transportation by truck, rail or transfer to vendor.
02/20/2012 (4200) Shipped (vehicle is shipped to the dealer or interim point of delivery).

Nothing on the Window Sticker page regarding shipping. This page exists for the dealers and it is only recently Chevy itself has made it available with a direct click. We used to have to overstrike the VIN in the www line to draw up our own Window Sticker.

The significance of the Window Sticker seems to be that is when the 30 day grace period for the dealer loan begins. Remember, the dealer buys the car from GM and you buy the car from the dealer. Because of this, it generally works as a good sign that the car is actually moving away from the plant to its destined dealership.
