I used the Windows 8 pre-release for quite a while. I actually really liked it. There is a learning curve though.

It took some getting use to, but I think I got it figured out.

Just navigating around the OS is so clunky. I don't understand why anyone would accept A windows PC as their daily.

Anyspray, if I click the desktop "tile" it goes to a somewhat manageable format.

I downloaded: 3.5.NET framework, EZ flash, and the cable driver. I saved a file for a data-log.

So on my drive to work, I'll try to log a run. If it all goes well, this will finally make my tuning experience convenient.

As for windows 8...... whoever decided to create such garbage on a computer should have their opposable thumbs removed!

If you know any computer wizards you can get windows 7 for free/cheap. 2 packs-o-smokes and I'm rocking windows 7.

I'll put 7 on it for you, if you're nice enough about it I'll even look into dual booting it with some hackentosh or Linux stuff for you if you'd like.

Windows 8 really isn't that bad, the Metro UI is sloppy for a non touch user so I just cleared every tile off its screen except for the weather tile and desktop. Boot, see weather, then use the desktop for navigation... See I always compute different than other people though, my desktop consists of no icons, not even a recycle bin. I keep my programs on the bottom bar, firefox, photoshop cs3, ccleaner, and windows defender. If I add more programs I would just put them there as shortcuts, since they open up there own tab inside there shortcut it doesn't take up more space. And as for opening videos and pictures I just set it back to standard so I don't go to the metro view for my media... Then deleted IE. It boots much faster than windows 7 probably due to the huge amount of kinks they worked out.

This laptop will be a strictly tune and Datalog machine. I have a MacBook, iPad and iPhone for everything else I like to do.

I would love to figure out how to wipe everything else off this PC, so it just has a browser, EZ flash, and a tune and log folder.

How hard is that to do......... for a low tech guy like myself?opcorn:

Shouldn't be too hard. I know nothing about windows 8, but my XP machine will be the same way, browser and tune files.

All of your New Windows Sucks woes will go away.

Preloader, if you have a MacBook you should just buy parallels and install a Windows VM. Don't bother with a second machine...

I got the PC up and did my first datalog this morning and sent it in. I feel so capable now. Finally I will be able to do my own logs at the track.

Got my Nokya Cosmic White headlights today. I'm happy they are indeed white, not blue at all.
