Got a question.. I lost my licens the other day and now i got to pay $30 and wait up to 30 to 40 days to get it in the mail.. but they said they can make me a photo ID same day.. my question is my car is about to get serviced for a few days and there giving me a rental and i hear u need to show an Licens for them to turn the rental over to you.. I tried calling the dealer many times but they never answer for me to ask them but will a photo ID work since i wont have a licens for over a month?

There should be some sort of 30 day temporary license you can print out and sign. Obviously it won't have a picture so you may still need a photo ID, but that would cover the license portion.

i did but i lost my wallet the other day.. the DMV mails your licens now and said it will be 30 to 40 days but they have it in the system for if i get pulled over and i give my SSN they will see my licens is on its way so i wont get a ticket for no licens

Yeah, I realized that and edited it.
I'd still think they would want you to have a paper copy of something on you at all times though but you did ask them so I guess it is what it is.

I have no doubt you will need a copy of the license to get a rental.

The problem is, every state is slightly different so you would need to find someone from KY to know for sure.

Sounds like the photo ID is the best you're going to get, but thats not proof of a valid license. :sadbanana:

This sucks.. i dont want to go down there and they take my car then deny me a rental bc i dont have my licens

What the hell. Why cant you just go to the DMV, pay for a new license and boom, you got it.

That's what I did a few months ago when I lost my license.

Kentucky is a ****ed up place though so who knows.

With the change to the new passport valid id's it takes a while to receive your permanent license. In wv they will give you a color printed temporary id with your picture. This temp looks like a regular id without lamination and is made of cellulose. I would think most states would have a similar temporary id system.

Anyway, Danny, get some ultrasonic whistles at walmart and have some peace of mind.

I do not have any proof but everything I have read says ultrasonic whistles do absolutely nothing. I guess they could buy peace of mind though but they won't actually function.

lol I don't think I told anyone in this thread. You might know I took a road trip to Oakland for preloader's OEM 17' wheels & tires last weekend. They were for Danny because she has two messed up wheels from hitting that poor bobcat.

Its probably from the curbs more than the bobcat.
