My Sonic noises

Well guys. I came with two videos to show you my Sonic noises.
This time you can hear the noises pretty well.

The first video is clutch noise when I release the pedal. It sounds like a "CLACK" every time I release it in neutral gear with engine running. I don´t know if this is normal, the noise is pretty loud. And noise can be felt in the shifter and clutch pedal as a kick. This noise comes from the clutch, not from the pedal. I have checked it.



And now the second video is traction noise. If I hit the gas pedal in neutral shift, everything sounds fine. But if I put 1st or reverse and I start running, a weird "CLOCLOCLOCLOC" noise appears. This noise is louder than clutch noise. And it feels like something is knocking the car, the whole car vibrates.



Do you have any idea what this noises are? Or where can I take a look? The warranty in my country is pretty shi**y. Every dealer said that this noises are "caracteristic sounds of the car".

the second noise you hear may be related to the traction control intervention into the inherent wheel slippage associated with acceleration above the point of traction loss. in other words when you accelerate rapidly the traction control limits wheel spin by first detuning the engine specs then if control loss is still emanate the brakes will pulse the caliper on the slipping wheel to stop wheel slippage.
there is a defeat switch located on the console to disable that safety feature in times of mud or yuck so that you can "rock" the vehicle out of a disabled condition. this is spelled out in driving habits in the owners manual.
my recommendation to you is to take the vehicle to someone knowledgeable about these things and ask their opinion of what is actually going on, get them to ride with you and demonstrate the noises for them to hear and counsel you on the benefits or detriment to the car

My Sonic doesn´t have traction control. Thats why I´m concerned about this noise. And every single Sonic in my country does that noise. Every dealer keeps saying to everyone that this is a "caracteristic" sound of the car, but come on, this must be the first car in history that makes this annoying noise... I´ve never heard something similar in another car...

don't all Sonics have traction control? is there not a traction control button on your center console by your cup holder?

Not. My country is full of crappy buyers. Thats why we have "premium sound package" in all versions, but no traction control, no ESP, and only four airbags (six in LTZ version).
And I can make every burnout I want. So, this car doesn´t have traction control at all. The noise in second vid must be other thing.

Where do you live at?

I´m from Argentina. I forgot to tell you.
We have korean Sonic with 1.6 16v Ecotec engine. Transmission is 5sp manual, same as some versions of your Sonic. The rest of the car is identical (with some variations of equipment, of course. I mean the mechanical parts).

We are really concerned in first place about this issue (2nd vid noise). Every Sonic in here does that. And nobody offers a fix.
Also i´ve seen that some 1.2 Aveos (last generation, the one who is really similar to the Sonic) does that sound too.

And if all of this issues or noises or whatever, are not too much, we have another issue with all Sonics in here. This car doesn´t regulate well. If you are driving in neutral, the car stays at 900rpm. But when it reaches 0mph/0kmh, RPMs drop to 400 and the whole car vibrates. Then it goes up to 500 and stays there. But sometimes it drops and rises intermittently and we have to hit the gas pedal to avoid this fu***** annoying thing. We are sure that this is an ECU issue. But again, every dealer saids "this is a caracteristic thing". Every issue, noise or malfunction is a "caracteristic thing".

So we don´t have another option to ask to you about this, or check ourselves the car. My mechanic guy doesn´t know anything of this car and never heard this noise in another car...

Sounds like that thing has a cable clutch

This may not have the same clutch assembly as the north american ones. The noise may just be the disc and pressure plate.

That is true. In fact, this Sonic is from Korea. So there are some mechanical differences between yours and mine. First of all, we have 1.6 16v Ecotec engine only. Are you talking about first vid noise?

If all of them make the same noise it sounds like its normal.

First or second vid noise? I´m more concerned about second one. I don´t think it´s normal, despite of being in all Sonics around here... If that were normal, other cars would be making the same noise. But not.

But I think there can´t be many differences between yours and ours. And nobody seems to complain about this issue than people in my country.
The worst part are dealers. Not only GM, pretty much every brand. They will tell you that any failure is normal for not paying any fix. That´s why I´m trying to search and investigate a little to see if I could pinpoint any of multiple issues with our Sonics.

That´s one of the multiple benefits of living in my "wonderful" country, ha ha.

I understand you now. I have also read that the Sonic's in Brazil are made in Mexico?
