Vince what RPM are you shifting at when you run? Trifecta says you asked to have the rev limiter moved to 7k, I think that's your problem. You should be shifting at 5800 or so. If you're shifting at 6500 or higher it sounds like you're basically out of peak boost the entire run

yah i dont think i shift that high either i am right at 5900 sometimes 5800

Thanks for sharing some info Stratton..... And while I never claim to be nearly as good of a driver as you, I think you only have proven my point about why I am indeed butthurt.

Your stock clutch is limiting your power, trust me, my clutch began to slip when I got to about 220 wtq.

Knowing that I'm an inferior racecar driver was included in my mod plan. That's why I went with the Raceclutch, so I could handle the Advertised Enormous gains of the red pill. So my theoretical extra power should compensate some (not all) for what I lack in skills. (I'm not horrible by the way, I got a 2.2 launch just like Tommy).

I'm losing my ass here because, I'm basically hearing that a 14.3 could be had on a 93 tune with stock tires. I spent over $1000 on clutch/fly and the 5 installs it took to get it right.

I want to know where's the beef?


I don't really know what I'm missing and it's not your fault, but I'm sure you can find some compassion for my disappointment. I'm a driveway Sonic enthusiast with an unhealthy passion for this little machine, and if all the products I bought and installed are good for what they were sold as, why is my heavily more modded Sonic only seeing the 5th fastest time.

That's awesome! I went 2.18 60 ft but that was with 27psi and the 17"s which I believe are 10mm wider.

I really do want to get my car to a track. If I could pull off 2.1 60' with 226 WHP and ****ty ass 205/55/16 Goodforayear RS-A tires, why not something close with at least a 100 WHP less?

I think a 2.1 is probably possible on the stock tires, but it would take me some practice. Last weekend was the first time I've run the quarter.

I'm dumping the clutch around 2500rpm and flooring it for a split second before feathering the throttle. I short shift for the 1-2 around 5-5.5K. The 2-3 shift happens at about 5800rpm (as indicated by the stock tach). I go through the traps in 3rd.

Next time I go, I'll experiment with tire pressure and launch technique. Once I think I have that optimized, I'll try different shift points and maybe even a short shift to 4th.

This is how I plan to experiment when I go back in a few weeks. Pretty much different everything.

Don't get down PRELOADER, you have by far the coolest Sonic around! Just let it drive you even more to push your limits, and don't give up
