Cargo area cubicle

My new 2013 Sonic RS hatchback has a roughly rectangular shaped cubicle in the cargo storage area wall on the right hand side. It looks as if it is shaped to hold a specific item; perhaps a first aid kit or jumper cables? The corresponding area on the left hand side wall holds the cargo area light. Does anybody know if this cubicle is for something specific? I can't find anything in the owner's manual about it.

I have that as well in my 2012 hatch. I believe it's for the optional subwoofer you can buy directly from GM. It is a shallow, rectangular box. Looks like it might fit right in there.

Nope.

I have the subwoofer and it is much larger than that cubby.

My Astra had a similar area that was for a first aid kit which is required in some European countries. The Astra did have a method to hold the first aid kit in place.

Right, I'm thinking that the space is probably utilized in some overseas market. I'm not really concerned about it, but maybe someone will want to look into Sonics (Aveos) from overseas and see what turns up.

UK Sonic/Aveo, looks like a first aid kit as stated previously.

Chevrolet's UK website offers first aid kits that fit that space.

Yep that is definitely the same blue case seen in my pic above. Nice find for people wanting an in car first aid box.

I just noticed a couple things, their side mirrors have a turn signal on them and the UK have a hatchback Cruze and wagon?

I'm pretty sure that someone else mentioned that somewhere they also have side mirrors that have a power folding action. Maybe for a different model all together but still fits the Sonics

I love how short the rear headrests are! I think those would be better for the US models.

I believe someone on here swapped the turn signal mirrors onto their car.
