The two pockets on either side of the cntr console that are deep enough to fit my hands in but leaves my phone sticking out no matter how I fit it in there. I was hoping a representative from Chevrolet would come out and say "well, we originally designed them specifically for this..." but that hasent happened yet. I'm of the belief that they were intended as A/C vents but funding fell through leaving us with cheap looking rectangular boxes next to snazzy throwback turbine looking things. So, failed attempt at ductwork anyone? Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions and advice? Fill me in. Thanks!

I think you're spot on about the air duct idea. That's exactly how they are on the Cruze and it is way more appealing. I'd like to see that change in the next redesign.

I use the recessed area to hold my Escort radar detector. When not in use, I place a ball cap over it to protect from excessive heat, and to keep it partially hidden.

Most useful idea yet.
Pity they're illegal here.

Are you able to use them there?

Radar detectors are legal in most every state in the USA except Virginia and Washington DC, as far as I've researched. They are illegal mostly in commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds.
If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct.

Perfect place for my GPS. I have it on audio, and tell it where I want to go BEFORE I start driving.

I also throw my Garmin GPS up there. The little ridges in the cubby keep the suction cup from being useful, though. I need one of those weighted mounts.

The GMC terrain also has a compartment like that, and it has a little cover. If they made the cover for the sonic, it would be much more useful.. I'd like some more private storage areas.

yeah, I wasn't sure if that was the angle of the pic or if it really was that tall.
Haven't found any other images of the housing installed. I did find this video but no idea if it's the same housing
