Gas cap placement

Does the LTZ or RS have a locking gas flap. My LTs do not.
I don't really need the feature (as it would sometimes refuse to unlock on my Corolla), but I was just curious.

On the subject of gas caps, not necessarily the placement. My temporary service truck (while waiting for my new one to be delivered) is a ford f150. It doesn't have a gas cap. Just the little metal flap. The first time I stopped at a gas station to get gas I thought great, they're going to think I lost the cap.

They will be a source of major evap leak issues as they age. And far more expensive to repair than just replacing a cap. I don't know the OEM's logic for it but I don't see the necessity.
My cars, gas caps are wherever, no logical placement.
Nissan 350Z, japanese built, right side.
Toyota tercel, Japanese, Left side.
Cobalt, american built, right side.
GMC truck, american built, left side.

Also if you have a single exhaust outlet, the filler neck is almost always on the opposite side.
I'm betting that is so that when you pull up to the pump you don't shoot exhaust straight at the pump.
My understanding was that at one point, exhaust was placed at the side that was opposite the curb so that exhaust wasn't thrown at the people walking on the sidewalk. Also, from the video posted, gas filler was set at the side that was at the curb.
Most of my chevy 4 cyl I've owned have been on the passenger side... My camaro was behind the license plate ('76).
I too thought it looked like the Sonic had a space for a gas door lock... Wonder why it doesn't other than money because my brothers Spark has a lock with the latch by the driver seat.... Wth? I don't really care but flush without the little bump for your finger looks nice.

I hated those levers. My Corolla had one and there must have been a problem with the cable as I had to pull it three or four times before the door opened.
My old '92 Benz had an automatic one. If you locked the doors, the gas cap locked automatically.

My father had a 90 something 300sl? Sel? Or something like that I don't know. Anyway, 1/2 the time it wouldn't unlock the gas door. Had to open the trunk, move the junk in the trunk, find the release then get gas. It was a pita.

Thanks Kraken... I'll look on my '13 to see if it has that tiny hanger for the gas cap.

Mind blown with the fuel cap hook on the inside of the door.
I was holding the cap while filling as I didn't want it touching my paint.

Also on my Holden Barina RS a pin locks the fuel door when my doors are locked.

Now we know why it looks like they planned on having a locking gas cap on the sonic.
Any way to get a pic of the lock assembly? I wonder if it could be added to the sonic or if we would need a new BCM program.

I'll try to get a pic today.
If you can get hold of a lock assembly, it should be as easy as splicing in to the power for the door locks.

Are certain countries required to have locking gas flaps? Maybe this is the reason for the lock?
Defective cap?
I like it on the drivers side.
On a side note, my cap never clicked when you screw it in. Every vehicle I have had gave that click at the end to let you know that it is sealed an no vapor is escaping. The emission testing people used to test caps in the past as well for that sound. Defective?
