I've considered. But seeing how intimidating just using a PC to tune my professionally programmed tune to tune my car was, I'm terrified to program myself.

I'm a very apt mechanic when it comes to nut and bolts, welding and heavy building, but I am sadly very behind on computer skills and have zero patience for it. Even datalogging is a huge strain on my capabilities.

I have given more thought to buying a 2nd ECM and sending it to a vendor like MPFab to have HPTuned for me. That is more up my alley.

Looking over my stock program file, HOLY ****.... There are way more parameters than I am used to with my Cavaliers. It is kinda overwhelming to look at.

Both. I have the FlexFuel set-up. But as I was saying, it hits a wall on E85. And on my current commute, E85 would have me filling up every 2.5 days, so I'm sticking with 91.

I never logged the E85 for Vince to look at. But maybe I will soon. I do miss the smell and the shiny clean exhaust tip that E85 allows.

The E78 ECM in the 1.4T is much worse. I've been doing some reading on it and there seems to be alot of guys having headaches tuning this car. Lot of trouble making consistent power and high boost.

I've thought about going to HPT but after doing some reading on tuning our car I think I'll forgo tuning myself for the time being. Too complex for me.

The E78 is worse than the E83?? Damn. I intend to consult some tuners I know about this. I know that power was left on the table with the Trifecta tune and I also get the impression that they do not really care about helping the 1.8 guys much. I know that it has been a battle to get them to do much of anything to help me. They would fix one issue and something else would pop up or the car would loose power somewhere.

First off, it's just a nickname I made up. Secondly, I have worked very closely with Vince and he is aware of my build plans. So I basically told him that if my turbo melts or my pistons perforate, I will not blame Trifecta, and he trusts me on that promise.

I think he'd be reluctant to handing out these kinds of updates readily, because there is always that one guy waiting in the shadows to pin a failure on the tuner even when he was warned.

So if you want to pursue such an aggressive tune, please don't implicate me in the request.

Also, it's worth noting that I do have the alcohol sensor, which may make him more confidant in the tune's safety. Remember, without the sensor, the ECM "guesses" the alcohol content based on knock. That is barbaric IMO. Even summer E85 here has proven to be 81% on my sensor. So if you get a crazy aggressive tune for E85 and end up with winter blend E70 at the pump, bad things could happen.

I highly recommend pursuing the alcohol sensor. I still have spare E78 pins that I'm willing to share. I think MOST tuners prefer to have the ECM reading alcohol %.

The "suicide bomber" tune, is an update that Vince gave me in which I told him he is not liable for blowing my turbo. I thought I was doing the swap sooner than later and I didn't care if the stock turbo failed in the name of science.

So far so good. I'm holding peak boost at 23, but the spectacular/dangerous part is that I make 10-12psi down at 2k with ease.

Interesting. I have been running at 23 psi+ since I removed the DP/MP and zzp intake. 23.93 all summer and now 22.78. All I have is the catback, tune, and I have run both SAB and injen intake.

I'm not chasing more psi with the latest update. I think the limits of efficiency begin to diminish gains after 23 anyway. I do believe my boost curve starts sooner, with my current tune.

Are/Will any of you guys come out to Cecil County Dragway in Cecil County Maryland? The strip has been open for three weeks now. Tomorrow night, the weather should be in the 45-55F range while the track is open so it should be a good night to come out.

Been lurking here...reading..learning so I'm very interested in seeing these cars in action in person. opcorn: Yes I want one but learning from the likes of PreLoader and such before diving in.
