I totally dig the distinguished bearded look that's happening these days.

I thought he looked like a cereal killer in that pic. Glad I'm not the only one who thought along those lines.

I tried growing a beard many years ago. It came in red (I have light brown hair elsewhere), coarse, and I had a couple small bald spots around my chin. I abandoned the experiment after a few weeks. Recently I have been tempted to try again but I fear my beard will be all gray.

Few weeks is not enough to gauge a beard. You need a good couple months. Maybe 3

Beards need time to grown and have character. The longer you allow it to grown the better it will get.
