1.8L Turbo Kit

thats what i meant the throttle body is on the opposite side. but the way the turbo is set up, it'll be kinda of hard to engineer. but i did just think about how with the inter cooler you could have the inlet and outlet on the left side and have the cool air come up to the stock 1.8 throttle body. but idk if an intercooler like that even exists.

It's completely possible to run it in and out on the same side. It's as simple as running the inlet routed like the 1.4 and the outlet up through the stock intake ducting area to the 1.8 TB.

I have not really dug around the front end much, but I see no reason a single pass IC couldnt be used with the 1.8. Why does the hot side have to go to the passenger side of the car?

As far as I can tell, it's because the throttle body is on the passenger side on the 1.8, so ideally that's where the cold side should be. I don't see any problem with running the hot side charge tube from the driver side, though, at least if you get a choice of turbos. IIRC the angle between turbine and compressor housings is usually adjustable.

my turbo is adjustable as should basically all turbos. the vband clamp or wedge clamps that hold the center section onto the compressor and turbine can be loosened and spun any direction. the center of the turbo is the entire operation all in one the housings are just directing the air in the direction of your choice. on the intercooler thoughts. im working on my 1.8 currently. i have the standard fmic intercooler in on one side out on the other. my game plan is to relocate my battery to the trunk. i will sweep my header.(custom) straight toward the drivers side. mount turbo. the waste exhaust can then sweep back under the header and out of the exhaust. charge piping should be a breeze there is clear passage for piping to go into the front bumper through the cooler and onto the drivers side. from there youre basically just jumping into a cold air intake. i will try to post some pics or a vid to show my idea it may work if youre able to fabricate your own parts

yes most turbos can be "clocked" I am just curious as I was speed reading thru the pages here, do you guys know parts can be sourced from the European turbo kits for the Z16XER/Z18XER? I own an ecotec aveo and some of us have used the BNR header, so we share the same exhaust manifold gaskets. Check out the Corsa D GSI or VXR manifold with turbo molded together, its flange is a direct match. B16 Honda manifolds can be adapted by just changing out the flanges ( the ports are really close) and lastly wossner and JE Pistons make internals for our cars.

The A16LEx engines use a manifold/turbo arrangement like the 1.4 does. The cost of them and then actually getting it here does make it a very expensive project though.

So what i am reading is that a turbo kit for a b16 could be modified for the 1.8l sonic... or was this in reference to the aveo? Because if that is true then i think that your list of parts may have become a little cheaper/more available.

More then likely t off the oil pressure sensor and tap a hole in the oil pan as a return. MY thoughts anyways.
