Has there been any talk of Chevy bringing a CVT to the Sonic? I'm a manual fan, but CVTs seem to do better on fuel economy than any other type of transmission.
On the other hand, Jeep has replaced the CVT with a regular automatic in the Patriot and Compass.
If you care about how your car shifts, then do the shifting yourself.
If all you care about is getting from point A to point B, then a CVT is a perfectly fine choice.
If you're a 5 years or less in a car person, this is the answer.
After that you need to look into what your situation will cost you in serviceability.
From what I have read, no CVT in the Dodge Calibur has ever made it to 100,000 miles. They cannot be repaired.
Based on GMs past history with CVTs, I wouldnt buy one. To me a CVT does not belong in an automobile. It seems as though they are not designed to really handle the power, weight, and lifetime requirements for passenger vehicles.
Hey, Chevy!
How about a CVT in a 700hp Camaro?
