As long as it has the *DexOS 1* Label on the oil carton you can use it with the sonic. All GM Vehicles now require DexOS Approved Oils for there engines.

Ok here's a question. Im from pa and went down to myrtle beach for 2 weeks. In pa city i would get 27 mpg down here the best i ever got was 19. Can anyone explain why?

Driving conditions, temperatures, more or less stop and go's. idleing time differences. many things can factor into the difference. Did you drive the car harder down there or did you drive it more like when back home in PA? Like i said alot of things can factor into a low MPG rating from one place to another. if you drove from PA to Mertyl Beach then one would think the Average MPG would have went way up traveling down the highway.
So to see a drop like that is something to ask about but again honestly alot of factors can come into play as to why you saw/see such a difference between the two. Some weeks i get high MPG averages, some weeks i get low MPG averages. depends on how much i drive from this week to that week. Idle times, how hard its driven and so forth. During winter i saw my MPG average drop as low as 13mpg averaged. Thats because of way more idleing time with the remote starter function. But the minute the weather got better and warmed up ive been seeing 25-32mpg averaged in the city. MPG is going to fluxuate all depending on the driving conditons. Every place is going to make a difference on whether you get High MPG or Low MPG. Just my thoughts on the matter. hope it helps you.

The only thing i can think of then is the atsmosphere in PA is different than in Mertyl Beach in South Carolina. Is there a difference in sea levels and such. idk man. just trying to help you out in figuring out why there is such a difference in the 2 numbers. especially if you havent changed the way you drive it. it should still be reading the same numbers as up in PA.

Driving 70-75 on the highway, the best MPG I've ever been able to get is 34MPG with my manual 1.8L.

I've got about 4200 on the clock on my 1.8AT sedan, averaging 34.4 because my wife can't drive to save her life. On my own, 38.8 was my average with 65% highway (albeit Los Angeles highway traffic) and I had no problems keeping that mileage doing 72-78mph. My wife on the other hand, can't seem to keep it above 30mpg, hence the 34.4 overall mileage.
On a side note, her 05 maxima 3.5 V6 AT she gets 22.3mpg and I see 25.8, so I knew it was coming lol.

To those showing their dash MPG readouts... don't forget those numbers are not as accurate as hand calculation of MPG. The readout can be as much as 5mpg higher than reality.

I would say this is partially true.
The numbers may not be as accurate, but they might be.
Mine agrees very closely with the amount of fuel I use. I just did the math now, I drive 90 miles a day and get 4 days on 9 gallons. That's 9 gallons to go 360 miles = 40 MPG.
Just as the dash might not be accurate, the same goes for someone assuming the pump shuts off at the same time every time, this is why you are suppose to try it several times and then take an average of the multiple fill ups.

Refueled, reset the mpg reader and did some driving today. Got this nice number after a day of slight city driving and mostly highway like driving (Country roads with very little stops).
Not bad really. have seen better but overall a nice number. im happy.
