I'm the owner of a new 2014 Red Hot Sonic RS. Well, I claim to be an owner, the car broke before I ever got it off the dealers lot. After I did the paperwork, signed the loan, etc etc. So I'm liable for the car, just never had possession of it.
Only 47 miles on it. Came from another dealer about 20 miles north of my dealer. Yet no one noticed the squealing engine until I took delivery of the car and turned it over. I got to drive it from the front of the dealership to the service bay. The A/C compressor is shot. Of course they don't have one in stock. Closest part to Dallas is Nashville.
This sucks.
I'm sure someone is wondering why I didn't catch it during a test drive. They didn't have the car I wanted on the lot and I test drove other Sonics. This one had everything I wanted and was traded for with another dealer. My dealer went and got it. When I went to take delivery, they were still detailing it for me, so I went inside and did all the paperwork.
I wanted them to pull a compressor off of one of the other Sonics sitting on the lot, but they refused. Said GM wouldn't allow it. I think it's because they got my loan and would rather inconvenience me for a week or however long this is going to take, and try to sell the others. They already got my loan money.
They did give me a loaner car, but then said I should return it with the same amount of gas as I got it. Thing is, I drove a long way to that dealership and passed two other chevy dealers because they are highly recommended. They want me to pay for gas back and forth to their distant dealership for a problem they should've fixed before selling me the car. So right off the bat I'm in an argument with them. They conceded, but I still have a bad taste over the whole thing. Not a great experience for this first time Chevy buyer.
I'd like to hear what the Customer Care people think about this if they are still hanging out on the forum.
So when I eventually get the car, I hope to be a happy participant on the forums.
