If you read what I typed, I never stated that you were blowing smoke. Although technically you didnt make 500 WHP.

What it came down to with Weisco was that they did not want to make a set of pistons without a large production run. It was a normal item that they had produced before. If they had told me that I would have been okay with it. However they decided to lie to me for 5 weeks before admitting that they were not going to make pistons for me. I took my business to local place that makes great custom pistons.

While I never had an Eagle rod fail, I did have issues with pistons scuffing on the cylinder walls. This turned out to be a common issue with people running the same rod as I was. The only possibility we can come up with is the decision on Eagles part to eliminate a small hole in the big end that allows for some oil to spray on the cylinder wall. This is a hole that exists on the stock rod.

Thing is how many people would buy a set of low comp Pistons and rods? Before a actual turbo set up is finished.

I would buy them just because I'm already working on my manifold and I know where my turbo will be mounted I have it all worked out I just really need the rods and pistons

And I know I don't have the dyno showing 500 but that was my last dyno I turned up the boost to and finished at 26.3 I just never dumped it again cause i knew I was over 500

Who's to say the stock bottom end can't handle 300? I know the euro guys are making 300+ on the euro version 1.8 with just a head gasket and studs.


But if you really want them I spoke to my rep and he says the parts are the same between the 3 engines.

How similar is the 1.8 to the uk's 1.6? I believe the 1.6 is a family 1.

I would have to double check my stock cams, but I think there is a position sensor lug on both cams in the A18XER versions.

WarrenG does upgrades for the A18XER as well, but his site sucks and is impossible to navigate. He does respond to email....... at least pm's through the vxrforums.

Didnt you just say a few pages ago that you can have custom rods made for about $450 and would never pay $900 for rods and pistons??

I said I've never pay 900 for rods not the combo but that's 1200 for both pistons and rods I mean its $350 more than I've ever spent on a combo but like we've discussed in previous they are new so the extra isn't sooo bad.

Yep, same pistons and rods (okay its possible the rods are the same length, but I have my doubts). Head bolts might be the same though.

Your right all but the Pistons are the same from what I've seen.

Just because the rods are the same length does not mean the pin and crank dimensions are the same.

I have the measurements I just have to remeasure the stock 1.8 rod

True but seeing that the cruze/sonic use the same rod bearings as a few others like the Saab z18xe and insignia its a big chance things are good. Here some part numbers

Bearings are not that important since the same bearing could be used across several engine families.

Not sure the reason for mentioning the crank, we already know for a fact that the 1.6 and 1.8 do not use the same crank. Its physically not possible. 7.7mm different stroke.

Rod part number comes up as a 1.8, not a 1.6 based on a quick search. Even if they were the same I would not trust them to a build for more than what the max rating for a stock 1.6 with that rod is. DO some people make more than stock without issue, sure. Is it wise to assume that all can, hell no.

Pins being the same would not be a huge shock. Same engine family.

Part numbers listed are just cross ref for the sonic and cruze 1.8 to the Opel line up since they have a higher performance after market

So you listed stock part numbers for the same part that is currently in the engine that is produced in the same factory as the exact same 1.8 used in Europe. How is this proving that the 1.6T parts are the same and therefor capable of holding up to supposed 300 HP?
