Ok guys im still waiting for the downpipe to come in but i was wondering about some other tuning options. Couple of my friends brought up megasquirt ..i kno a lot of Mazda guys use them. Also can someone help me with the routing for the coolant lines i have the mock up oil lines routing done just need coolant.

What year is your sonic? If it's a 12 you have the E38B which is the same PCM in the 1.6T so your best choices would be tuning with Efilive or HPT.

You can tap into the upper rad hose for the feed. But since it's not a BB turbo you don't even need to hook that up just run good oil and a turbo timer

It is oil and water cooled. doesn't mean you have to hook it up it's just in use to prevent coking. I ran without water lines on my KA24 for 3 years did the same on a D16 using a clipped 14B both engines still run with the same set ups .


A. Don't run the coolant lines and add a turbo timer to your set up and use good Oil

B. Add a 1.6T T-stat housing which should have the right connections to add the water lines..

C. Pick up a water feedline kit off eBay and tap into the rad

Ya my collage offers an efi live class I was thinking about it my self but we can efi live a 2013 to right

By the way theres an app out called boost adviser it's pretty cool you guys should check it out

So UPS lost my downpipe😡😡😡😡 but im still going to continue with the parts. Just letting everyone kno that the project is still going😆

I just met a guy from the UK he moved here when he was little, drives a 1.8 Cruze, and his uncle owns a car shop over there so I may be able to get my build parts cheaper lol

Today was a good day

After really looking at the lay out of the VXR you won't be able to use the CXracing intercooler kit for the sonic. You would need a intercooler with the intanks on the passenger both hot and cold..

I would use a air to water with heat exchanger set up rather then a front mount. You can mount the intercooler in the stock air box location.


My intercooler set up is as follows

Barrel style A2W cooler
Custom ice/water box
Chevy volt Battery cooler Pump

I'm using a A2W because I don't want to give up my ECO shutter system.

Here is a CX kit Cxracing 12" Liquid Water to Air Intercooler Heat Exchanger Water Pump | eBay but I was use this style A2W because of ths outlets 16 5" x 13" x 4 5" Bar Plate Front Mount Water to Air Intercooler Universal | eBay

The CX racing kit for the 1.4 will work. Im using the additional piping to go from the throttle body to the left side then use the kit. I mapped it out already.

Your adding too much piping which will just give you lag and pressure drop. Remember on your set up the hot side pipe will be close to the DP more then it is on the 1.4
You want to keep the IATs low if not your just heat soaking
