And now, for the bad news.

After my last visit to Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine Texas (massive thumbs up to Tim Foote, who has been the only one actively involved in truly trying to help get this BringGo issue resolved!!!!), the radio tech recalibrated the MyLink (still same version 24), and I was told he updated/installed what he could find (???), yet BringGo is still backdated to 1.2.

Earlier today (Friday), Infotainment Support gave me a follow up call. During this call, that person just then informed me that BrigGo is no longer being used by Chevrolet!!!! What???!!! One of the major selling points about the MyLink radio, was "app support", and not having an actual built-in NAV system, not even as an option (!!!!!), then BringGo is all we get, prior to 2016 models.

So I asked about if Android Auto, and Apple xxx only works on 2016 and newer, what do those many of us with older cars and MyLink have to use now, and will be fully supported? NO ANSWER! I tried that edited config file from YouTube that allowed the use of MirrorLink. But wither my Android HTC ONE M8 phone is not compatible, even using the Syslogic (or what it's called?) MirrorLink NAV app, or perhaps it too, is for 2016 and newer, nothing worked.

So basically, we may be left out in the cold. Hmmm, misleading advertising now? I know I am sure as heck extremely angry about how this is being treated! There may still be hope, for as I said, Tim at Classic is still actively working on helping me. He is AWESOME!!!!!

I'm 60, and still have pretty fast reflexes myself. Can't help though that women in the summer distract me. I get hit A lot for looking LOL.

I have an LG G2, and I see that large screen great and really don't have much interaction with it once I've set course. If I do anything, it's on Mylink for Music or Phone via Bluetooth. Even when I do need to do something it has speech recognition, and I feel it's more user-friendly than Bringgo.

But, it's been two years since I used Bringgo. I actually just re-installed it for the heck of it. I got the 30 day trial available to me again and plan to use it over the next few days, to see if it's gotten better.

I am not sure where exactly to look for the versions that are of interest. The Bringgo Engine verison I have is 1.1.2.8. There were LOTS of files visible with versions all over my MyLink. I am pretty sure the files related to Bringgo in Windows CE were called gogo or Go_Go.

Tell me where to look for the version you need on the car itself, and I will see what my files are. I am thinking I can just drag ALL the files, Hidden as well, to my USP Stick, then open them on my system and peek inside. There are definitely some with information I shouldn't share, but I am pretty sure they could be narrowed down by date , extension and location. Plus peeking inside ones I am not sure of.

I'd be interesting on getting a copy of someone else's to do the comparison. I've taught computers and had a few companies designing related systems and then doing repairs and data recovery. Haven't really worked with Windows CE though, and I don't want to trash MY MyLink playing with files in there. But it would be interesting to compare my virgin Mylink with an updated one, to see which files were affected.

3 AM and I am bored, so I think I will go play in my car now while it's cool out. Gonna see if I can connect a USB expansion so I can use the Memory Stick and a generic mouse in Windows CE and just drag all my files over. Then I will peek at them on my Windows system. This has all gotten me curious.

I think there will be someone soon to come up with a way to get Windows CE to boot up and allow a program like mirror link to run though. It would be useful to stick google maps on there, but it also opens a whole can of worms. It will let ANYTHING play, and people will be distracted and hurt. I think it's inevitable.

As I posted in the MyLink thread, in BringGo on MyLink, go to settings, then About. Also weird, a brand new RS on the dealer's car lot, had version 1.1.1.42. But can still tell it is the newer version. Old obsolete version has a plain black splash screen and plain black and white menus with 2D icons. Newer versions have a colorful splash screen, vividly colorful menus and 3D icons.

At first, I was thinking a simple copy & paste of the needed files might do the trick. But as someone else reminded me, the OS being WinDoze, it might actually require a full install, seeing how WinDoze on a pc normally installs .DLL files, .INF files, drivers, versions of Java etc, all over the place. So need to really think about how to come up with a fix. So sad, that we customers have to resolve an issue on our own! But then hey, I, and other techs, do that every day, for many years, dealing with anything from Microsquash! We typically know more than their support desks, lol!

If someone sent me the latest AppGogo.exe and AppGogo.map files, and the issues they have, I'd try them on my system, to see what happens, as I said in the OTHER thread on this. I think those are the two main files to run Bringgo. and I think it might use all the other AppGogo files in the AppGogo folder. I might need that folder too.

Best case, I just put my old files back. Worst case is I probably have to go get the chime upgrade and get stuck with the new stuff too.

Your phone version is the same on my HTC Android.
Your BringGo version is odd. I had 1.3.x on my 2013 RS, and on a 2014 LT it had 1.4.x. But what happened to any form of progression, when the 2016 RS I looked at, brand new, had 1.1.1.42???
Your MyLink is basically the same firmware as was on mine BEFORE the recall update, 13.xxx. Now, after the update it is 24.5.xxx. The new 2016 was 23.x.xx.

I downloaded the AppGoGo files linked by Infectious in the other thread. Was going to try them today, but we got hit with massive severe thunderstorms today. Yeah, right after I had my car waxed, lol!!! Will hope to try them tomorrow now.

I do hope though, if BringGo is going away, that Chevrolet gives us MirrorLink with full touch screen capabilities, or Android Auto.

One thing I miss from my Fiesta ST and Ford Synch, was the ability of using an Android app called Destinations, which was a special Sync version of Intrax. It could act as a NAV app, and had real-time traffic as well. But a cool feature was the ability to "send location to Sync". Then just get in the car, select an option, and it would download the destination to the Sync NAV in the car, and away I'd go.

I have received a quite hopeful reply back from BringGo support! I have sent them pics of the version on my MyLink, and awaiting a response. Hopefully, something might happen from this.

This issue seems to be related to the software version installed in the car and we would need to confirm this information.
Can you please open BringGo in your car and go to:

Menu > Settings > About

It would be great if you can provide the screenshot of "About" screen from your car, which contains version number of BringGo Navigator.
Once we have copy of this screen we will continue our investigation.

Also, the Chevy dealer is asking me to bring the car back. Infotainment Support keeps saying not much more can be done, until the dealer opens a TAC request. Then engineers at Chevrolet may begin further work on their end. So I will be returning again real soon. Was hoping to hear back from BringGo first. But one thing that dealers seem to be missing, is that they actually need a phone on hand, with BringGo installed, to fully test, otherwise the app won't start on MyLink to show the version there - unless they have some other method of showing app versions installed.

GREAT NEWS TODAY!

Brought my car back to the dealer so they could open an official TAC case with Chevrolet. No fix as of yet, but Tim Foote got an official response back.

GM is investigating this issue, that they were aware of it, and are working on it. They will send out updated information once a resolution is found.

The bad part though, is it could take a while, maybe even months. But at least they ARE aware of this issue! And perhaps since BringGo also replied back to me that they too, are investigating this from their end, then there is double the chance we get a fix sooner, hopefully.

Well I just got a call from my Canadian GM support person, and unfortunately it only adds to the confusion. This support person was told by GM engineers that the BringGo version on Mylink that came with the chime recall was provided to GM by BringGo. The engineers had been speaking with BringGo about this reported downgrade and BringGo told them there was no version 1.3 or 1.4. BringGo says the original version was 1.0.3 and the version they provided for the chime recall was "updated" to 1.2.0.8
My support person had no idea why the BringGo features and graphics would appear downgraded compared to our previous version.

So there ya go, as usual it's all clear as mud, and I'm not feeling optimistic that we'll get back our previous versions.

Thank you for this information!!!! I have forwarded it to BringGo support. I will post what they reply back with. That is crazy! Because we all seen different versions on the cars. As I sort of get excited about updates, and being a computer tech, I ALWAYS check the "About" button to check what version things are. And the 2014 LT I drove for a week or so had 1.4, and the 2013 RS I now own, started out with 1.3. Yet the brand new 2016 on the dealer's lot had firmware 23-5, but BringGo 1.1.1.42 with full color and all features and options. It seems somewhere, somehow, something became corrupted?

Update

There has been a new update version of BringGo in the Google Play Store. But beware when you install this update on your Android phone:

* it wiped out ALL of my saved Favorite POI I had

* it set back to default many of the settings

* sadly, it does nothing to the version on the MyLink radio, it still has the backdated version, argh!!!

I've had a couple of BringGo updates on my Android phone, and yes, it will completely remove the app and all maps and replace with all new. The first time it prompted me with an update, it wouldn't let me use BringGo until I accepted the update (no cancel option), which really annoyed me. The second time it prompted me, it provided a cancel button, but still wouldn't let me use the app until I cancelled the update. Each time the BringGo app on MyLink was no help; it just threw a message saying "The devise has stopped connection. Please limit devise running applications" or something like that. It's essentially saying I have too many services running on my phone, but I had nothing running at all except BringGo which I noticed was stuck on the Update prompt when I checked my phone.
When BringGo is running properly, it's really nice, but it all too often finds ways to interrupt its own functionality. Or just another way of saying 'buggy'.

Yeah it's pretty much up to GM to get back the later version on MyLink.

Interesting; I've contacted BringGo CS many times and the replies are always signed with 'Piotr'. Either this person is the only CS on staff or all their CS people sign the same name.

January 2017 BringGo update

Brought my car in for warranty work. Had them officially add in the work order ticket to check on status for my (OUR) BringGo backdated issue. The official response was that yes, GM is aware of it, and are really working on it. They printed that out in my copy of the ticket, so should be covered when it goes past the warranty end date.

And on that thought,........

I STRONGLY URGE that any of the rest of you who have had the dreaded chime recall update check your BringGo now too, even if you don't use it, maybe get the 30 day free trial at least, then test it. Cause who knows, unless you use the other audio apps (Stitcher, Pandora, etc, but I don't use them myself) they too may have become backdated as well! I know one of them has been greyed out and unusable since the chime update, even though Google Play Store has had 5 updates since!

And if you do have issues, please take it to your dealers and have them write up an official work order ticket for you as well. Doing this will achieve 2 goals:

1) the more similar tickets made on this issue, the BIGGER the issue becomes to GM as they can see it is more widespread than just me.

2) and most important for YOU. If the fix does not happen before your car goes out of warranty, and they try to weasel out of doing the work for you for free, but want to charge you to fix it - you have hard copy proof that you complained about it before the end of warranty! And thus should be at no charge to us.

As a side note, has anyone gotten their HTC Android phone to work with Android Auto yet? I have the Sprint HTC ONE M8 (Harmon Kardon version). I have already had a number of loaner Chevy's from my dealer during repairs done. Most had the Android Auto feature on their touch screen radios. I installed Android Auto on my phone. I linked Bluetooth to each one. I have also connected by USB as well. But never, not even once, have I gotten Android Auto to work! So either it is my phone (because it is HTC, or maybe too old already)? Or Android Auto does not really work yet? Just curious, especially if GM decides trying to fix the BringGo issue is too much hassle, and decide to toss it all away, and push towards having to use Android Auto instead? I would more likely prefer to try and get MirrorLink to work instead, and have the MyLink screen be our full on screen controlled by the MyLink touchscreen.
