Especially manual tranny cars...except for a few 5sp LSs, there seems to be few manual 2018s around my area...

Very true; there aren't any manual trans Sonic's around here either, but there are a two Cruze LS models with a manual. About the only way you'll see a manual Sonic in LT or Premier trim is if someone ordered it; dealers won't stock them as there are fewer and fewer buyers that can operate them. Heck, even many of the service techs cannot operate a manual trans. If you order one, there is no 20% incentive. Imagine how many Sonic's there might be on the road if dealers would order decent quantities of Sonic's with desirable levels of options an trim. This is why I still have my 2012 1.4 LTZ manual trans hatch; cannot find anything equivalent in dealer stock.

The primary cat was just replaced on my car, the tech who drove it off stalled the car like.............. 3 times............ going into the bay. I told him "hey be easy, the clutch isn't covered under powertrain" and he didn't seem impressed.

Here’s a new 2017 LS 5sp for under $10K on autotrader. I think that’s the lowest I’ve seen on a new Sonic. At that price you could add Cruise and alum wheels and still get yourself a stick shift car for a pretty good price...

There were quite a few Sonic commercials in 2012 when it first hit the market. Even during Super Bowl IIRC. They then tapered off and by 2013-14 faded. At least, in our broadcast TV area market.

I remember the one commercial, but that's it. Other than that, I've never even heard it mentioned in commercials.

It seemed evident GM was wanting to use the production of the factory for Bolt and Trac plus maybe one more vehicle.

Every time they offered significant incentives, sales of the Sonic spiked up, proving that people would buy them over Fiesta or Fit or Versa if the price was right.
There are rumors that Chevy is dropping the manual tranny from the 2019 Cruze, we'll see. But I'm certainly not buying a Trax or Cruze without one. And Spark is too small, even for me. Sigh.

Well, Autoblog just released more news on the demise of the Sonic; it goes on to say production may end this model year! This will make three of my vehicles that are obsolete, or maybe collector vehicles.

I see Chevy has continued to discount the Cruze (20% off MSRP for LTs) while dropping incentives on the Sonic to the usual $500 for 2018s. So Sonic sales, which were a decent 4000 (almost) in March, will surely drop in April.
I guess I'll have to go outside GM for my next car, unless I trade for a 2018 Sonic later this year. I don't want to, but the Spark is too small for me and rumor has it the manual transmission is going away on the Cruze. Trax/Encore have never had one (plus crap MPG and 0-60). At least Honda still sells manual Fits, Civics, HR-Vs. Possibly a stick-shift Impreza hatch. Sorry GM.

. I had all at the same time:1) 1993 Saturn SL2
2) 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Coupe
3) 1980 Pontiac Trans Am Turbo
4) 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th Anniversary edition.
5) 2009 Pontiac G6 convertible.
So that's 5 discontinued cars/brands. #1 got sold in 2012 to buy the Sonic, still have the others.
My oldest nephew conveniently reminded me of that, "Nice job, uncle, three discontinued car brands! LOL"

GM Korea is nearing bankruptcy and looks like there is a good chance GM will leave South Korea entirely.
If that happens, that means the Trax and Encore would likely come totally here or (Mexixo?). So. . . the current U.S. plant only has so much capacity and GM has made no secret it want to promote the Bolt and another product here.
Doesn't look good for Korea or the Sonic.
So . . folks who look down on Korean made products. . . may have their wish.

Hopefully, the production of those products comes to the USA where it belongs. GM Korea has been a dying ship since the days of the Pontiac Lemans in 1988. It was never good and still isn't.
Why? They already sucked all of the cool out of it with feminization (or softening of the features
) of the features! Let it die.

Well that is disappointing but it does seem like americans haven't been into small cars for lotsa years. I'm still enjoying mine and don't have any plans on getting rid of it anytime soon.
