Has anyone driven the LTZ in the snow yet?

Nothing could be further from the truth. That's not how it works in the snow belt. They don't clean all the snow and ice off the roads here, either. It's not like there's a plow truck waiting on each road to clear it when it snows. Most people here have to drive on icy, snow covered roads quite often in the winter, and often for long periods of time before the weather warms up and melts it.

Yeah but they get major highways and do SOME sort of preparation for it.

Also y'alls weather doesn't change every hour.

The saying in Texas is "if you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes"

In Maine, it gets cold from October to march and doesn't lighten up one bit.

We've had hot summers and then freezing rain the next 2 days and then ice and then the heat was back up in the 60s the next day.

Yall don't experience that. Either way, all I was saying is, my snow experience is different and youve done nothing but try and turn it into a pissing contest.

Do you think the plows magically remove the snow as soon as it falls. 6" is a skiff of a storm. 2 yrs ago it laid down 30" over night. You think the plows could handle that? WRONG!! Spend a winter in utah or any other northern state and you'll say send me back to Texas......



How about when it snows all day, clears up at night and and then hits -20f at night. The snow don't melt. I'd love to call a 6" snow storm bad, but you may not believe it but I've rode my harley in snow that deep.
Of course, I wrecked, but thats besides the point. I was the only basterd out there smiling.

I'm telling you we don't even have snow plows so don't even talk about going fast in 6inches of snow. It does nothing for me or tell me I don't know what it's like.

Y'all have different conditions and actually have people that prepare for it and sell stuff to accommodate it.

I live in a lake effect snow belt along Lake Michigan, and one minute there can be blue sky and sunny, and the next a blizzard and white out conditions.

No, they do not. Snow crews are reactionary anymore. With small state budgets constantly shrinking more, they cannot afford to put salt down before the fact. Two winters ago Michigan we goit dumped on with large storms and consistently cold weather. The temps let the snow stick around and it took a week for some neighborhoods to be plowed out. Highways were shut down for a day or two due to snow drifts. Storms dumped anywhere from 6 - 18" of snow.

In Texas and most southern states, you have no snow/ice equipment to deal with the conditions. We get that. So when you get a snow storm or ice, you have to wait for it to melt to go anywhere. Yup. Generally, that isn't a common occurance though. My uncle is in TN and while it is a different state than TX it is more likely to get snow, but yet they only get maybe 3 dustings of snow/ice a year and it is cleared up by the weather in a day.

But they used to. At least you acknowledge the fact that it's been done at all in the past, the other person acted like yall are like superman and we're a bunch of babies or something. Plus y'all are allowed to have snow chains.

Like I said we will have it for a few days but those 3 days we're on house arrest. We can't go anywhere.

Last year the apt complex I was living in was literally like a fishbowl: every time I tried to back out of my parking space, it was impossible because I would going backwards up ice/snow on an incline. My wheels just spun in place and I went nowhere. Nobody left that complex for at least 3 days.

Plus the worst thing is we get more ice than snow and usually black ice that costs the bottom and some snow will be around and you won't notice until you veer off the road.

I always have to go AT LEAST 15 under. And I don't dare drive 60 mph in 6 inches like a maniac trying to kill myself. Nobody knows how to handle that weather and trucks are usually pricks who tailgate you when they know they got 4WD and all that jazz and I'm trying not to die on my 20 min route to Walmart.

Seriously... I don't understand. Why would you lock a thread up over some disagreement? Even an occasional argument doesn't seem that bad to me. As long as people aren't cursing each other and/or threatening each others' lives.

I've been in a lot of forums... this one just seems to be a little overly "sensitive" at times. A shame too... for the most part it's a great forum.

Now, back to the initial post. Honestly, I didn't even bother to read the whole thread, but did anybody mention cables? If I remember right, the owners manual says don't use chains. Cables were fine for me in Colorado Springs/Denver, CO, and I dare someone to tell me the weather was worse in Texas or Tennessee. I've driven my LT with 15s in El Paso and it handled fine, you just need to accelerate more gradually and brake sooner. Again, I dare someone to say they have worse snow cleanup than me.
