Picking up my new 2013 Spark on Friday!

Well bought the wife a 2012 Sonic first of the year now I'm buying myself a Jalapeno Green Spark! LT2 loaded to the hilt baby! I know it's a bit small but it is quite roomy and it rides very well for a small car with only 85hp. It has leatherette seats, heated as well. Mylink which is freakin awesome! I don't ever carry anybody and I don't have kids so for running around town and the occasional trip to the DFW area it will suit me just fine. I'm trading in my 07' Silverado Z71 gas hog! I'll have this car paid off in a year with the trade I'm getting! Dad bought a new Silverado and kept his old one so I'll have a truck if I need to use one. I'll get this paid off and go get me a new truck in a year or so anyway. I think it will be a welcome addition to the small Chevy fleet in my family. My wife had the first Sonic in town, now I'll have the first Spark!

I'm thinking that this was the reason: "I don't ever carry anybody and I don't have kids so for running around town and the occasional trip to the DFW area it will suit me just fine".

i guess the sonic has double the power, darn near identical fuel economy, if not better and only a couple $$$ more...I don't see the draw on the spark, but I didn't drive one either...I was wondering if it was purely a money thing or styling or what. Smaller is better?

I too was wondering that. Why not jut get a sonic!

Compare a loaded spark to a loaded sonic. It is several thousand cheaper.

yeh but baseline turbo sonic > loaded spark in how much fun to drive with same or better gas mileage

Being fun to drive isn't a concern for everyone. Some people just like to be comfortable.

I can see someone snagging a loaded Spark vs a low-end Sonic - they should just reside in the proper forum.

I think the comparison was from a loaded spark to a turbo LT not a 1.8 LT to a turbo LT.

Either way I would disagree and say the 1.8 is equally fun.

A base LS is not available with the turbo. You need the LT for that, and it is much more than 700 dollars. As I previously mentioned, fun to drive and fully loaded are two different things. A fully loaded Spark is the 2LT auto which MSRPs at 15,970. The fully loaded Sonic auto is the 2LZ which MSRPs at 18,625, not including 700 for the turbo and ~800 for the sunroof. Let's just ignore the RS. I believe the LZ justifies my point.

Hell, I like that the Spark has so many interior color options.
Wish they'd have let me get brick int to match my IOM. :\

My 1.8 LT is a lot of fun to drive. A car does not have to have a lot of power (1.4 doesnt have a lot of power either) to be a fun car. Part of the joy of a smaller car is the ability to throw it around a bit. Sure it isnt a rocket, but who cares?? The corners are where the fun is at.


I looked at a Spark as an option for my fiancee. It doesnt look like to bad of a car. Plenty of room inside, smallish, and should be just perfect for a city car.

Powerful car vs. not so powerful car is similar to a 250cc vs. a 1000cc. You don't need to be a fantastic driver to reach the potential of a 250cc, but you really do need to be an experiences rider to make a 1000cc hit the limit.
