I was flipping through the manual (so bored!) and in section 8-4 I see there's a removable cabin air filter right behind the gloveboxes. Pull it out and see if it's soaked as well. It's possible that the rain might have gotten into the intake at the base of the windshield and overwhelmed the drain.
OK this is right from the service invoice (Maddmatts may have been correct).
Removed fresh air cowl screen found signs of water entering fresh air door scoop. Made a water damn and added foam block to plastic cowl. Pressure tested windshield and other sealing area's no leaks found. Water tested after reassemble no water getting in fresh air scoop now. Reassembled interior. Note engineers have found water getting in when parked on a 2 degree incline most drive ways with right side slightly higher. Water test after repair and those conditions OK at this time.
Hopefully, I will see no more leaks. My car may have been on a slight incline so hopefully this is it. Moral of the story is don't park on an incline if it looks like rain.
Does the fix make sense to you experts out there?
Thanks,
Jim
Still dry after rains this weekend?
200 miles on the damn thing and came out this morning to a wet passenger floor mat. Needless to say I'm a bit agitated that I have to bring a car with 200 miles on it back to the dealer. BS if you ask me
Anyway. No sunroof and it was raining all night. Urrrrgggghhhh if this is a sign of things to come I won't be a Sonic owner long
:sadbanana:
Do you remember where you parked? Parking on a slight incline (2 degrees) will cause the leak. On my car they built a custom dam to fix it. I haven't had a leak since. If you have to park on an incline put the front on the low side until you can service it.
I would also point them to the solution I posted above. They will not find a problem by simply doing a hose test or running it through the car wash a bunch of times. I had to press them to look further.
Good luck!
....Hope you stay dry from now on.
