We we are at about 1600 miles now and after the 5th fillup we are seeing 30.2mpg overall. Total miles into total gallons. This is an LTZ sedan, 1.4 with auto. About 50/50 highway and city driving.
Just put the Trifecta tune on there over the weekend and will be running it all week in ECO mode to see how it fares.

I usually average 31-33 in the Cobalt depending on how I drive. I live in the boonies now and it's a 6.1 mile drive up and down to get to work. Other than that I spend all my time on the Interstate going 70 (also mostly up and down.) It's at 33.2 mpg right now on this tank. Cobalt's gauge is usually accurate within .5 mpg. I'm starting to reconsider getting anything. I test drove a Sonic 1.4T auto today and it is a very nice car but it isn't any more fun to drive than the Cobalt. I was hoping to be able to average 35-40 mpg with my mostly highway driving. We took a drive through town (couple of lights) and a couple miles on the freeway and got back and it was 32.4 mpg so it could have done better. Plus I wasn't used to it... and it's an auto.

You are basing this off of a test drive and DIC?
A 6 speed will get you 40+ MPG and driving it right. I know if I had the stick I would be pulling north of 43 MPG. With the LTZ and the auto, 35 with 2k miles is good enough. I just couldn't find a stick and didn't want to wait. I think you would find better information browsing fuelly MPG averages then a quick test drive.

If you have a normal commute it is easy to figure the pucker zone. I know I could get close to 450 miles. 400 miles would be easy. I am not testing just the max just yet. With more data I might hit 400 regularly for each tank. Plus, turbo engines are not really broken in until 5 to 10K.
I know I will be dialed in when I start hitting the high 30s in terms of MPG. Biggest thing against me is the LTZ tire setup and auto trans.

When you only get a few miles in the car and nobody has a stick, that's all you can do.
I'll have to look for a turbo stick and test drive it and then determine more. I hate automatics becuase I can't feel what the engine is doing. I also should have brought a gauge and looked at g/sec airflow but I didn't think about it.

filled up today only 44.21 mpg. still windy. will try lowing speed to 60 when can to raise my average up again.
i think the easest way to think of octane numbers is the higher the number the slower(more controled?) the burn which allows for more timing advance.
my numbers for fuel millage stunk until after 3500 miles. you would have to test drive a used one or a demo with more miles, not a new one to get a more accurate picture.
getting better mileage in the city takes timing(the traffic lights) and s l o w accerelation. coasting to the reds and timing so you already have speed when its green. hyper-miling is the only way i knkow to get your numbers north of 40 in the city

I drove an extra couple of miles just so I could break the 500 mile mark. The odd thing is the Ultra Gauge indicated I still had a gallon of gas left. So is the gas capacity 12.1 or 13 gallons? I do fill until the gas cuts off twice.

I'm currently trying to see what I can get out of the current tank of fuel. Last few tanks were about 90% highway, 75 mph, got about 34-35 MPG. This tank I'm going 60-65 on the highways and short shifting, so we'll see what she can do.
Also, really amusing when you reset the dash and see how high you can get it to go. My current record is 61.1.

I bet your numbers go up at 60-65. I have an Ultra Gauge with the instantaneous MPG. Watching that really helps to dial in a high MPG reading with just a very subtle change to the gas peddle.

you better expect 2 or 3 weeks before he can post back an improvement in mpg, I don't think anyone has enough self control to run the 1st week on only the eco tune
When I did get some hypermiling on my tune I got up to 61mpg on the dic after about 50 miles and that's with cooler temps than I saw on my previous best of a short lived 56mpg before tune. That was on my last tank and I ended up at 38.xx DIC and 1mpg lower hand calc. After those 50 or so hypermiles it was mostly interstate at 75-80mph and maybe 80 city miles
