I had a Corvette i sold stuck at the dealer for 14 days, when they pulled it in off the trailer there was a really bad knock in the front end. They called it a QC check while they ripped the front end apart to find out the problem then wait for parts to come in to fix it. The Vette had 3 miles on it and needed pretty much the whole front end replaced.

Thats sounds like something happened in transit. Usually if there is an issue it is pulled off the end of the line for repair techs at the plant to fix right away.
You are describing what is know in the dealer as PDI Pre delivery inspection.

QC Hold usually takes place at the factory. Some early orders for the 5th Gen Camaro also experienced QC Hold after vehicle left factory but before reaching the dealer.
I think there is a difference between what QC Hold and Quality Check means and post by ThatTmoGuy describes the difference.

From my understanding of a Factory QC you should be getting a very pristine RS. Typically it means they picked your car for a quality check and then went through the car with a fine tooth comb and found every small issue, then fixed them all.

A good friend of mine in Lordsown had my 12 Cruze RS pulled for QC. Vehicle was flawless!

I think I could write a book about the vagaries of ordering. I am sure you could. Sometimes undergoing the ordering process feels like trying to nail jelly to the wall.
