And thanks Becky. I am feeling the already build auto trans RSs are about to be released for shipping but the manual trans versions may be undergoing some additional QC.

I will try your method and see what it turns up. This is the latest email I got from my dealer:

"I spoke to our ordering manager (he orders hundreds of cars for us) and he said he did not recall the details but there had been some sort of constraint on your car which delayed it getting scheduled for production. It could have been the color or the transmission, but something was in short supply and delayed it. Sorry I cannot be more specific but as we discussed when you were here we just have no control over the manufacturing process."

Your dealer is correct. Not only about control over what and when an order is assembled but dealers are kept in the dark about reasons for extended QC Holds and delays. We observers are sometimes able to figure the reason(s) out, but even then it is guessing based on information. GM just does not officially reveal the reasons. I for one, believe it would not harm sales and would certainly relieve some anxiety if GM could be forthright about this.

For the record there was a red rs on a truck that came in to my dealer yesterday. It was on the top though so I didn't get a good look at it, but I have officially saw one in real life!

Four dollars to a donut it had an automatic trans. Those auto trans Sonic RSs have been released and are leaving Orion. Right now it is manual transmission turbocharged Sonics that are on qc hold (including but not limited to RS versions).

So when you do the reflash, is there a chance you will know what needed to be changed?

I'm not familiar with a reflash on Sonics, I do most of the programming at my dealership, if its in need of a flash I can do it, I haven't had to do a sonic yet though (we usually have less than 4 of them in stock and there's little mark up on a sonic so we don't sell as many as I feel like we should)

Is there a recall I'm unaware of or are you talking about a tune?

Reflashing is cake, the most difficult part is being put on hold For 45 minutes with GM techline

You should be hearing about it soon. It is my understanding it only applies to turbocharged 2013 model year Sonics with the manual transmission, but I do not know why it will be needed.

The only campaign listed at the moment is a bcm reprogram, it says the turn signal bulb outage indicator isn't working properly

Its a reflash for the body control module that makes the dash tell you when you blow a bulb because it was programmed to do so unsuccessfully from the factory

I have a funny feeling the rest of the Sonic RS Manual transmissions units are being pushed back... Probably to 11/5 or 11/12....

I have a feeling that the transmission can't handle the new aggressive gearing like it can the normal 6 speed gearing
