Just installed a used TTR motor mount. I've had the trans mount for a while now. With just the trans mount upgraded, the stock motor mount would clunk when I let off the throttle. The upgraded motor mount resolves this issue, but the NVH is a little excessive at startup and anything above 1k RPM. I will be doing the washer mod soon to try and get a little civility back.
With stiffer mounts, I'm always concerned that the ECU will see the increased vibration as knock and add fuel at idle, but no worries there. I've seen consistent warm idle fuel consumption at .16 GPH with every combination I've used.

Yeah, the vibrations are always there even with stock mounts, they just transfer some now to the frame. The knock will not retard timing, it is not the same type of vibrations.

I did the rubber washer mod yesterday. I put one 1/16" thick rubber washer on each side of the mount on each stud/bolt, 10 total. Total cost was $5, and it was definitely worth it. The rearview mirror doesn't shake noticeably anymore, and I'm not getting excessive resonance on cold starts. Noise is still increased slightly over stock, but it's not intrusive at all.
On a side note, I just want to be clear that none of my comments were ever intended to be a dig on TTR or their product. The mounts do exactly what they're supposed to do, which is safely keep the engine and transmission as stationary as possible. The guys who are pushing their cars to the limit need something more rigid than the casual DD modder, so I'm just providing my input on making the car perfect for the rest of us.

Wow. Just put both of these mounts on my RS. I can't believe how much of a difference they made not only to how it drives, but also the sound. I don't know if it's just me, but my engine/exhaust has a bit more raw edge to it with these in. And it definitely feels like it has more punch.
The vibrations are bad right now, but I have less than 20 miles on them, so obviously they should get better with a little time. Even in just the short test drive that I took with these, I can say that they were well worth the money.

even though I didn't buy the transmission mount new from TTR, i wanted to post on how awesome this mount is. with the stock mount, when taking off from a stop light, no matter how much i tried, the car would ALWAYS buck back and forth at least a little. with the TTR transmission mount only, it feels SO DAMN PERFECT! this is how the car should have been built from the factory. i only have a little vibration at idle(mount has 20000 miles on it),but its a good vibration, not intrusive at all. just wanted to say thanks for engineering such an awesome piece TTR!:banana:

Got my Sonic back after she 100k km service. Engine & Trans mounts replaced with stock replacements. Car feels very smooth at idle and when driving. Vibrations reduced dramatically. I think I have been driving with broken mounts for a long time and the dealership didn't want to replace them under warranty. Was also informed about some AC campaign that was carried out as instructed by GM.

I started the car this morning for the first time after getting it back from the service center. The new factory mounts have made such a significant difference that I had to check the rpm gauge to confirm the engine is running. I think everyone should get their mounts checked as from what I have heard a lot of 2nd hand sonics here (in Dubai) has had either of the 2 mounts damaged. I don't know if GM has changed the design of the mounts for better durability.
