Buick Encore Brakes to Sonic

Well, I suppose I'll post a finished pic, lol. Actually, I didn't take too many more pics than what I've already posted but here is one I took the day after converting. You can see the new bracket, and for some reason the discs always seem really dark when I take pics of them.

The original brakes are tiny!

The 15" aluminum wheels DO NOT fit. I just checked it out. I didn't bother with any picks but the wheel gets a little smaller at the front and it won't clear the calibers guess I can't run this mod.

On a side note, did a test for of one of the encore wheels on the sonic... ***Y.

You are talking about the front? If so you couldn't do that, the pads would extend to close to the rotors hub and simply won't fit.

The rears I think will, aren't the rear discs pretty much the same between all the cars that use this platform?

Same pads and rotors sonic to encore, caliper too.

What part of the caliper hits the inside of the rim?

What you can do is locate a thicker stock size rotor

I was actually looking at ddm works cross drilled and slotted rotors with some performance pads. The next thing I need to find out is if the rs rear brakes fit over my 15" wheels.

Btw it's not that I love the 15s, I like the look of other wheels it's just very common to find rally tires in 195/65/15 or 185/65/15. So I may eventually get a set larger wheels but I plan on using these for some possible rally in the future.

i finally received today the rotors and pads of the encore.

and just ordered the brackets and bolt.

so hopefully in two weeks i will have the brake upgrade for the encore brakes.

11562022 is the front bracket bolt I used. Its 14x2x42

It was listed for the Cruze diesel with the bigger rotors.

The other part number is a lot cheaper it looks like. List on this bolt is $19!

just an update.

finally had the time to install these trax\encore front brakes upgrade on my RS.

they are seems to be good solution
nice bite.
quite.

i recommend this to anyone how push a little bit out of the car.
for me its a must.

This seems to be a great option that has me wondering: why not use Cruze parts? Seems to be a decent amount of upgraded caliper and rotor options. I know it wouldn't be as cheap but wouldn't a 4 piston Cruze caliper be a more powerful option over a single piston Encore caliper?
