At least two days as dispatch has to do its thing. I had a car sit at New Boston for nearly two weeks (50 miles away) which had me just about jumping out of my skin by the time it arrived.

Going by train certainly slows delivery down. Five weeks from order to completion is within normal boundaries; very quick would be three weeks and some models can take months. We will never know the reason but I do wonder why it went by train as we have reason to believe Sonics have been trucked to dealers just over six hundred miles away.

Hey y'all, update today from my dealer my sonic could be there as early as Monday. :banana:. I believe I ordered it on 03/19/2012 will take delivery sometime next week when im not working.
So we did the math and it took us SIX weeks to get the car from the date we ordered it. Not a terrible wait to get exactly what she wanted. We couldn't get anything negotiated off the price but we saved $750 from being a USAA member. If you are a member make sure to bring it up to save some cash!
Hatch 1LT with 1.4l engine, Cruise+Connectivity package, Black exterior, Jet Black/Dark Titanium interior. Couldn't be happier. Only problem I've been able to spot has been a broken hinge clip on the cargo shade

Six weeks from order to Florida is normal once the new car start-up issues have been overcome, or as close to normal as anything in this process gets. I've seen five weeks for the Sonic, but only to dealers close to the plant. Did you follow the status changes on GMConnects?

Ordered mine on 3/19 as well and has been parked at it's last staging yard since last Thursday. Dealer says it will be delivered as early as today but definitely this week. Today is 6 weeks as well and I am in CA. From what I have heard from Laborsmith and Larry @ GM Connects this is typical delivery time. (even though the dealer said 4 weeks)
***Edit 5/1/12 12:22PST*** Just got confirmation my order arrived and they are currently doing the PDI and safety checks. I'll be picking it up this afternoon!

Good show, Papa. As you may have noticed while following your car on GMConnects an here, the dealers really do not know a lot about the retail order process. I am sure people who have read some of my posts in this thread have figured out that I would like more people to buy their vehicles this way, and one of my reasons is to get the dealers accustomed to doing business this way.

Will do Laborsmith. It can be a rollercoaster ride but comes with the territory of special ordering what you want I guess. The dealer was a bit surprised when I contacted them around lunch time to see when I could pick up my car. I have been in touch with Customer Service as well to inform them as to the Chevrolet tracking (which doesn't really work), the lack of information provided by the dealer, and that more customers like myself would enjoy being able to track their car build and shipment. It's an investment and should be a part of the buying experience IMO. But I can't wait to drive her home tonight! :banana:

Yep, seems like it when you are living through it. You did not show a TPW but it looks like your car will be assembled this week, in which case it should leave the plant later this week. Depending on where your dealer is located, my guess is about two weeks if close to Lake Orion up to three weeks if near one of the coasts from today the car will be coming off the delivering truck.
