My salesman called me said my end of production day is 4/6/12 that's Friday I absolutely can not wait. I'm guessing I'll have delivery somewhere around the end of the month. :banana:

Orion Assembly works Monday thru Thursday, two ten hour shifts each day.

Unless it is a Corvette, which gives specific build days as many of their customers walk their vehicle down the line for final assembly, Chevy gives Tentative Production Weeks. Perhaps he meant April 9?

April 9 will still be earlier than I was expecting, and still psyched about seeing my car I haven't been able to find any pictures of the gray/brick combo. I'm going to take my camera when I pick it up. Since that's the cleanest and nicest it will ever be. But thanks for info

TurboGrayLZ, My sonic also has TPW Apr 9. Turbo Silver 1LZ 6sp Manual brick pleather. Sounds like ours will be made side by side lol. I'm in CA and the dealer says it's likely to be there by end of month. Thanks to everyone on the forums i've been tracking mine through gm connects . com website. It's good and bad, only bad because i keep checking every day hoping it's done and on it's way.

Sounds reasonable. It is a whole lot easier to estimate a date of arrival when no trains are involved.

Hey PapaSmurf805 I wonder if there is an assembly number that we could compare to see just how close they are. I like the silver, I just wish I could have got my LTZ with no chrome or black chrome would be nice. I looked at the black flash package, if it would of been More parts I think I would have done it. But my order sheet was showing $640. I didn't think it was worth it. For just 3 pieces

Once you get to 3800, your VIN will appear. VINs are linear, ie: VIN 005 would be the fifth in line. That is the only way I know. Once you get to 3800 it will be from about a week (if you are in trucking distance) to three weeks (if you are in the far west) before the vehicle shows up at the delivering dealer.

I did not get the number from my dealer. I have been obsessing to much already and driving my wife crazy. My dealer has called me about once a week with info and he is suppose to call me when he gets a vin so it has worked out well I'll post like the last 5 numbers see how close we get.

TurboG: That is close to how I used to track before 2008, only it would be by email starting in the nineties, and before that phone calls. It is good to know that the old ways live on.

My car zipped through 3800, 4000 and 4150 yesterday. I was kinda hoping it wouldn't be made on a Monday following a holiday weekend. I know I didn't want to work yesterday and I'm not sure my quality was up to par. This from the guy surfing the net at work.

I agree lion, but im not sure about last thursday either. I have not heard from my dealer yet so i do not know what day my car has been built on.


And loborsmith i do believe this old school way has been less stressful, upto this point anyway.

Old way = less stress? I think you're right. But not near as much fun. Up through the 80s, the dealer often did not know the car had been built until they received the invoice. Now receiving the invoice is not only done via internet, but is an indication the vehicle is about to be shipped to them. I think before the internet, it meant shipped. I am pretty sure we (the buyer) had no warning, we would get a phone call saying, "It's here." At least that is how I remember it.

The salesman sent me this:

"Your Sonic is built!* It has a estimated date of being shipped here on the 16th of this month."

I wonder if he meant it leaves the plant on the 16th or might be at the dealership on the 16th? I guess I'll wait and see.

Could be either, but I suspect it will be dropped off at your dealer over the weekend or on Monday as it looks to me that you are within trucking distance. The dealers around here are able to receive drops on weekends even though they are not open for business, I don't know how it works away from our metro area, where many if not most new car dealers are open for business on Saturdays.

Well I found the down fall to the old school way to day. My dealer told me this morning that it is scheduled for the 16th not the 6th so I still have more time. But he did say I could get the black wheels and get my stock ones back.


Which is probably wright being the 16th is Monday and the 6th was a Friday when they don't work. He wants me think about the black wheels before he orders them. I'm gona give him a day or so and then tell him I do want them. He is old school and owns the dealership so I'll call him in a couple of days. But I think the gray with black wheels will look good.

I think you are right about the colors. I KNEW there was something about the number 6 that I should have thought of, because all Chevys are given Monday as the build week (except Corvettes for the reason stated).

mine sonic has been stuck at 3400 since march 27th nothing else has been posted. called my salesman and got a TPW of april 9th. I quess their still trying to mixed the paint up to get the inferno orange looking nice and bright. oh well glad I have a camaro to drive while waiting.....

Camaros can be fun. In my lifetime I have owned three of them.

Getting to 3400 on March 27 makes this week a most likely build week, as you have already learned.

The next status is 3800 - built. GMConnects runs one day behind as the server they can access is updated after midnight and takes several hours for all GM to input. Dealers have real time access but usually only one or at most two staff who can access it.

You seem to be progressing well and let's face it, a Camaro is an excellent ride while waiting. And it appears you can get the color of your choice, which is more than I can. I have been told by Sonic paint shop workers that Yellow (my choice, if available) is not working out for their new process.
