Been at 3800 for 2 days now... I greatly dislike this waiting for shipment, especially considering how close to the factory I am and the fact that I HAVE to park my truck for the season this coming weekend.

So I woke-up Tuesday (Nov 8), and found this on my computer:

11/07/2011 - (3400) Order Broadcast (internal plant paperwork order produced). Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together.

P/A System "ATTENTION IN THE PLANT… THIS NEXT ORDER WAS SUBMITTED BACK ON MAY 27TH AND THIS POOR SOB WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE DONE IN AUGUST, BUT WAS HELD DUE TO CONSTRAINTS. SO MAKE X-TRA SURE THIS ONE'S DONE RIGHT, OK? OH, AND HOMER… NO MORE HANGING WASHERS INSIDE THE "C" FRAME PILLARS! THE TICKING NOISE IS DRIVING PEOPLE CRAZY!" *Homer* "D'OH!"

AxelRipper: you do realize the car has to be invoiced before it can be shipped? One way to tell when that happens is to click on the VIN on GMConnects. When the GMBuyPower window sticker appears, it has been invoiced and may even be moving toward the dealer.

Congrats on 3400!! I ordered my 2LTHB alot later than you ... but got the same message on Tuesday morning ... 3400 I would guess I am right behind you on the assembly line. December is coming fast!!!

This is a little ridiculous. It is now at 7 days and 3 updates at the 4B00 status. I live 3 hours and 17 minutes from the plant. If I would have known that it was going to take this long to get the car here, I would have picked it up at the plant. So all you people who live further from the plant, you might want to expect a longer wait time because shipping obviously takes a LOT longer than you would think it should.

I'm a couple of days short of 3 weeks since I hit 4000 status, and mine went through 4B00 three times as well (over 9 days) before it hit 4200 the first time. Then it was 4B00 again, followed by 4300, and it's been sitting at 4200 a second time for the last several days.

I agree that delivery should (obviously) take less time the closer you live to the plant, but it sounds like there's a lot of holdup just getting things off of plant property for some reason. Presumably, once your Sonic gets on a truck at all, it should finally get to your dealer all but immediately.

I'm heading into yet another week of hoping it mine gets in.

As I have already stated, every time I order instead of selecting from the lot, I vow to never order again.

The closest a Chevy buyer can come to factory pickup is Corvette's Museum delivery. The Vette is trucked from the plant across the street, and for $500 in addition to the $900 destination charge, you can come as close to factory delivery as possible. But included at no extra charge, after PDI your car is put on display and through closed circuit display available over the internet, so you and your friends can view it.

I do not know which is more aggravating, waiting for the build date or waiting for the delivery date. That is why I will never order a car again until the next time I order one.

Heheh. I like that one.

This is my first order, and while the idea of truly being the first and only customer even to test-drive the car (and, theoretically, the knowledge that you're getting *exactly* what you want) is nice, it does seem terribly anti-climactic to have to wait 6-14,322 weeks between effectively picking your car out and driving it.

I think I may be joining the "I vow to never order again" club after this experience.

... With the same caveat, of course.

That would be nice -- though, honestly, I'm hoping I don't hear about the arrival until Wednesday, as it would be highly impractical for me to try and make it to the dealer before Thursday.

If it rolls in Monday, the first half of the week will take forever.

Color me confused, but why are people custom ordering 1.8l Auto's and standards in the USA when we are driving them off of the lots since almost the beginning of October here in western Canada? Are Sonics just not readily available in the USA yet?

Yours might be on the same shipment that mine is then. I've been at 3800 for a week... not even invoiced. And I drive by the plant nearly every day.

They are driving them off the lots here also and are readily available. However, the dealerships in my area do not have the particular model/type equipment/color that I want in their inventory (and nothing within 300 miles either) ... therefore an order is necessary.

Nothing in Tampa or Orlando even? One would think that those two cities/urban areas are large enough to offer a number of dealers with an assortment of stock on the lots. Or are there just that few dealers in those areas?

No 2LT hatchbacks; inferno orange with the PCL/PDV packages were available at the time I ordered in the state of FL
