Official: What are your real world MPG Numbers

2013 Sonic LTZ Sedan, 1.4, automatic, Trifecta tune.
Vehicle has about 33k miles on it now. Lifetime average is about 31.2mpg. This is with nearly 98% Atlanta city/suburban driving.
Average 36-41 mpg on interstate road trips depending on speeds and loads.
Overall have been pleased with the car and mileage.

no mods....86,000 now...I think my big numbers are gone now, but not from the car. my total miles are down and I have a lot more miles in the city , so my numbers are a lot closer to 45 mpg. I've even been caught using the air conditioning..... twice.

I was just trying to analyze my Fuelly Numbers. I've only got just over 4,000 miles, but since it peaked at around 33mpg it's been on an decline.
From my notes;
1. It doesn't seem 93 octane or 87 octane make much of a difference.
2. The type of gas I get does make a difference. Mobil and Shell seem best for me.
I have used the AC some and I've driven slightly more city than highway, but my numbers seem below average, compared to what most are saying.

2014 LTZ hatch, 1.4 auto - first tank (to me) at about 15,000 mi., 28.6 mpg
hoping it goes up, but I've been utilizing the remote start and with cold weather upon us, I expect the mpg to be down until I can see some real numbers in the spring / summer.

Just saying that I bought a used LTZ 1.4 6mt hatch about 2 weeks ago. I reset the MPG meter a few times, latest was this AM heading to work. I hit pretty heavy traffic, stop and go. Some sections were very slow like having to wait 2-3 cycles to get through a light slow. I also hit stop and go and slow going on the main hwy. But it also opened up and some of my drive is at 60-65, sea level in Houston temp was about 45 F.
What blew me away was after this not so great traffic conditions, I got to work and the cars DIC shows 41mpg! Holy cow. Impressed. On the way home I take different route as I have a club meeting in town. I drop by Costco and get a few things, refuel. My fuel light was on. The pump shut off at 10 gallons! The guy next to me was in a huge Ford 150 Raptor SVT with the 6.2 engine. I was giddy, my fuel bill tiny, I was laughing out loud as I got back in the car.
I got home and my MPG was still over 40. I'm impressed. We had rented a 1.8 sonic and it was OK but had less power and got less mpg. Love it!!

I just completed a 1500 mile round trip from Washington DC to Michigan and back. It was about 20-25 degrees out on the way to MI. I averaged 39MPG with 5-10 mph headwind.
On the way back to DC it was 55-60 degrees and 10 MPH crosswind I averaged 46 mpg.
The majority of the time the cruise was set to 68 mph.
No A/C (defroster) compressor use.
Tires set to 40psi cold.
87 octane fuel
5w-30 synthetic supertech walmart special change every 10k
46,000 miles
44.8 lifetime avg MPG on the DIC (never reset)

I drive from Fredericksburg VA to Falls Church VA 5 days a week. This is 51 miles one way, and 48 miles of it are I95 at 65-80 mph. I am night shift and this is the norm. I have been getting 36.5 MPGs and fill my tank at only 3 different Exxon stations. 87 89 93 don't really matter with this mix. If I do all highway then yea 93 is all I put in it. Like I said I only fill this at certain stations and all are Exxons, one near my house, one near my work and one at a halfway point. Sometimes I am caught low and have to hit a Valero near my house but never ever hit a Wal Mart, Sheetz or Wawa, it seems I get crap gas mileage with those. I can average 380 miles before the light comes on, this puts me at putting $25 a week in my cardoing city/highway, not all miles are I95 I do some running around town. Not bad considering I moved from an '11 Impala with the 3.6L averaging 24MPGs and asking me for $55/$60 a week. Most of the time I verify this by reseting the trip meter every time I fill up and divide the miles on the trip meter by the gallons I put in the tank. I never go by the readout which says I am getting 37 or 38. If I do all highway with one tank I averaged 44 MPGs last time and made it 420ish miles before I had to fill up. Love this little car.

First off this is with a 2014 1.4L Turbo Automatic
I reset my AVG MPG meter on the way home from work yesterday as I got on the highway and tried going as light on throttle as possible to achieve the best mileage possible. So with that I found that if I drove gingerly and like an old woman I was able to get 40 MPG on the highway, this was at a steady 60MPH mostly. However once I started doing city driving again I went back down to 32-33 MPG.
Lastly if I drive like a normal person I usually seem to average around 27 MPG

I'd say I get exactly the same as you. I hear all these amazing numbers, but I get what you do. Mines a 2013 though.
I have area's where I can drive downhill long distances and see over 50. Even uphill on the highway I can get mid to upper 30's. But for my regular, everyday driving where I drive a little fast on the highway and love to feel the 1.4L's power around town, I get the average shown on my fuelly banner below.
I've tried to control things to get better MPG's, but no matter what I do, it seems my numbers are like a roller coaster, if you look at my fuelly chart. I think I am going to check my plug gaps and switch to another top tier gas to see if I can get better numbers, or at least more consistency.

I need a tune-up or something. I've had the car 11 months and today was the first day I drove at the speed limit (55 mph) on a trip after a fill up. I averaged 33 MPG. Which was 4 mpg better than my usual 29 mpg driving at 65+ mph.
Both numbers still seem low compared to what others are reporting.
I use mobil or shell 87 octane.
Only weight in car is my 180 lb butt.
No mods.
Seems I have to do something, just not sure what.....
Move to 89 octane?
Check plug gaps?
Change tires from the originals?

87 octane is just fine. ramp up your speed slower and coast when you know the light is going to change. I have posted some of the best numbers regularly that I've seen on this forum( averaged 50 mpg in summer). nothing special about my car. when you run 80...it sucks fuel...but 35 mpg at 80 plus is still pretty good. 102,503 on car. 2012 lt hatch 6 sp manual turbo. have been running fast of late and when late running fast. my average on gauge is down to 38.9 which is about 35 36mpg. check my fuely record. your mileage has more to do with how fast you ramp up your speed or how many times you have to ramp up your speed.

With over 4000 miles on my little turbo engine, I'm ecstatic about my MPG's. My fuel bars just dropped to 1/2 tank two minutes before I took this picture. Driving about 200 miles (80%hwy/20%city). I'm pretty sure I could average 45-50 MPG on summer formula premium, if I didn't drive it like stole it, and if I had my tune. :banana:
