Official: What are your real world MPG Numbers

I think the only things left for me to squeeze out better numbers are... taking some lead out of my foot.

This will probably help the most, it also tends to be the hardest because it's so fun!

I've had mine for a month with only 640 miles so far, 70% city miles. I drive posted speeds and average 31.5 mpg. Driving home from Houston meet Sunday I kept my speed at 65 mph (2300 rpm) with cruise on and averaged 47 mpg over 90 miles. Happy with the results, will be excited with the mpg increase after break-in as y'all describe.

For what it is worth:

The other day I drove ~10 miles on I-880 Milpitas to Union City CA at a steady 55mph and got 55 mpg per the DIC. (see below).
First I got up to 55 mph and reset the DIC. It read 55 as I entered the off ramp. It started out at 55 mpg and I had to fight like hell to keep it there. I think it peaked at 57 mpg. the highway is level and there was no wind.

sweet spot seems to be at 63 for power verses economy. I had a very good outcome between 60 and 63.

noticed the rpm you mentioned. you best mpg is probable at a lower speed. under 2000 rpm

You are correct Joe. I was able to average 51 mpg @ 60 mph it was great but when speed limit changed from 65 to 75, most are doing 85 on a two lane highway I felt saver @ 65. Too many big trucks hauling ass.

Highway: (55-75mph) 38.5-41mpg .
City: 25mph posted limit, traffic lights nearly every block, traffic from light to stay stopped then move a little,running keyless w/ ac while shopping, &running while sitting waiting for the mrs I get about 17mpg (which is my dodge's highway mpg).
Never bothered to average the mpg as every day.

hope its just an oversight on your part, but even I don't believe this was done at 75 mph.....65 maybe, 62 probably :blankface: not to mention this is an auto. this is more likely done at 55 or lower.

I'm not an auto but I can pull over 40 at 75 on a nice flat road. If I do 65 I can get the display to stay at 50-53 over a range of 50+ miles. I can't average very well on starting and stopping. I have a lead foot, but cruise control does wonders for me.

41.8 mpg car fully loaded, A/C on most of the time, freeway 928 miles and cruise at 73 mph. Have done this twice now. I do have the 6 speed man. though.

350 mile trip, about half on highway at around 70MPH and half on state roads around 55-60MPH. Not much A/C. DIC said 43.5MPG, I measured 42.2MPG...close enough. I'm very happy with that from my 1.8L/5sp.

400 miles North from Denver through Wyoming to Rapid City, SD. I was getting 40.2 until we hit Northern Wyo and a Golf R wanted to play.... a few 100+ mph legs later I was down to 32.4... Oh well, totally worth it!

Highway 18 is a beautiful piece of America and perfect for running hot without Johnnies sweating you

Well I have to say I was fairly impressed with my Sonic. I just got done with a 2100 mile round trip from NC to Key West FL. The car is a 2015 LS (1.8L) manual with CC with 4500 mi on the odo as of now. According to the fuelly app I averaged about 34.5 mpg's. It was all HWY running between 65-80 mph with the A/C on and light cargo.

2013 RS auto HB, mostly city driving, 100% stock, cheap gas

Any suggestions for improvement?

I just turned 50,000 miles on my Sonic LT, which is just about 2 years old.
I'm consistently getting 37 MPG combined, by the dash display. My average speed is showing as about 40 MPG during this time.
I just use "Regular" gas in the 1.8 engine, with stick shift.

Oh trust me it was at 75, I was surprised too because I've never got that high mileage. The only thing that was different on the car was I cut my muffler right before the axle so the reduced back pressure could have helped with gas mileage. Idk but I have more pictures of my dash Goin 75mph at every 50 miles or so. It fluctuated a littlw. By about 1 mpg.
