Yes, the rumor is the 1.6 turbo from Opel will come to the base buick verano at the end of this year. I imagine GM would wait a period of half to a full model year and then allow the high optioned sonics to use the 1.6 turbo engine too.
It'd be great for a potential buyer like me if GM let the sonic get a bigger engine for MY 2014 like dodge and ford are doing for their subcompacts, but while the competition is dazzling auto shows with cars we common folk can afford, GM is always just puffing up the latest corvette wizbang.
Oddly, the 2015 cruze is receiving a completely different engine and chassis and so the sonic and cruze will go down very different paths.
